Test results from Dev Ped

We have concerns with Luke being on the spectrum. He was seen by a developmental Ped in March. She administered a few tests while we were in the office. At the end of the appointment she said she would figure out the results and get back with me regarding follow ups, referrals etc. I never heard from her and I finally called on Friday to find out what was going on. They said they would send the results in the mail. I got them today and could use some help deciphering them and figuring out why they are vastly different.
Developmental Profile III
He was 2 years 3 months at time of testing
Category Standard Score Description Percentile Age
Physical 102 Average 55 2 y, 2m
Adaptive 77 below Avg 6 1y, 8m
Soc/Emo <50 Delayed <0.1 0y, 6m
Cognitive <50 Delayed <0.1 0y, 10m
Communication 69 Delayed 2 1y, 2m
General Score 57 Delayed 2

Capute Scales:
CLAMS - measures language
age equivalent: 22.5
CLAMS DQ for chronological age: 83 (average)
CAT - measures visuomotor problem solving skills
age equivalent 25.5
CAT DQ for chronological age 94 (average)
Full Scale DQ: 88.5(average)

I'm assuming the first test is based on the interview assessment she did with me and the second is based on the test she administered in her office, because she said he seemed to do okay on it.
I generally know what the 1st test measures mean, but I tried looking up the 2nd test and couldn't find much. Why would there be such a large discrepancy between tests?

Hmm...my post disappeared (my computer did something funky when I hit submit). Anyway, I basically said that you should call Dev Ped and ask what the follow-up plan is, since none was given to you. It's very odd that they didn't schedule *any* follow up, even just the typical 6 months, you know?

Not familiar with the Capute/CLAMS, but did look it up...

I think I would go with the results of the first one, and request an eval by the speech/language and by Early Intervention/Help Me Grow on at least Language.

I believe the first test, the combined Communications score is a combination of both his receptive and expressive scores. So, while he may be excellent in receptive language, he may be very far behind in expressive....

The CLAMS, doesn't distinguish between the two language skills, it ties them together. So, while he may have had excellent receptive and been able to follow, he still may have issues with expressing himself. This test also looks like a general "Is the child doing OK" type of test to be used by almost anyone... Here is a link I found... http://www.brookespublishing.com/sto...8167/index.htm

Is he saying at least 5 two world phrases right now? If not, then that is cause for concern.

Given the test results, IMHO, I would contact Early Intervention/Help Me Grow, to get the process started, as it can take a few weeks to get into the system, and up to 6-8 weeks to complete the testing and determine eligibility for services.

I think the Deveopmental Profile III might be a more indepth testing/scale....

He's been in EI/HMG for a while, so that's taken care of already.

Jamie, what did Dev Peds say when you called this morning?

Didn't know he was already involved with EI/HMG.

Yes he has been in EI since October. I called today and left a message requesting referral for further evaluation and follow up appointment. They haven't called back yet.
