What's the protocol re taking apart HPTs?

I have seen many a pic online, here and elsewhere of hpts taken out of their casing. Is there a correct method to opening these suckers? What's the protocol? I figure you can't open it during the test time, cause that may mess with the test. You can't open it after it's dried cause whatever it shows will be invalid anyway after the time limit. So what do you do?
Does opening the test makes a positive test line appear?

I open them within the test time, after the test time, wet, dry, whenever!

Seriously, once the urine has moved all the way across the test, it is safe to open.

Nope.I've tried it, didn't give me a pink line...sigh

I have gotten pink lines on tests I have taken apart HOWEVER I took them apart after I already noticed the line to get a better look.

Other than those cases (dollar tree tests, to be specific)... the only times I got lines on tests taken apart or left together was when I was pregnant.

A super faint, is it or isn't it pink line can be viewed more clearly when removed from behind the (reflective) plastic window, or the light blocking recessed window (Accu Clear.)

Also you can hold them up to see it in front of bright natural light that way, if your house is dim.

You can laugh, and it is kind of funny, but my BFP w/my DD was a super duper faint Dollar Tree test that went from "I think it is my imagination" to "I'm pretty sure there is a line" once I took the strip out of the case.
