I'm thinking this bodes well for us more mature ladies with fertile dreams!

question for the day,week, whatever...

tell us a nice mothers day memory you have or one that you dream of having....
Thanks for starting the new thread! I hope this is your month!!!

Mother's Day memory? Hmmm. I made my Mom a book of the top 200 things about her. I put in pictures from my childhood. My favorite one was, "Mom always made sure we looked our best." Then there were pictures of me at 2 in yellow footie pajamas with my hair in an afro of sorts due to being tangled and sticking out curly *everywhere*, a picture of my brother in ripped jeans, sleeveless t-shirt, with a giant beard, a picture of me with blue eye shadow and a sweater dress...you get the idea. Mom loved it. What got me though was both my brother and Dad calling to complain, "You have to give us notice if you are going to do something like this because there is no point for us doing anything. We can't compete." Not that it is a competition but that they thought it was cool too.

What about y'all?

Perhaps a silly question . . .

So, I had my u/s yesterday (CD10), and the follicles weren't large enough. I'm going back tomorrow for another u/s and (probably) the hcg trigger. Here's my question. I have long periods, usually 10-14 days of alternating bleeding and spotting. It's tapered off, but I'm still spotting a little today. If I have the hcg tomorrow and I have the IUIs Friday and Saturday as the RE projects, will there be a lining for it to implant into? I know it takes quite awhile after fertilization for implantation, but it seems strange to me to be doing it so early. Thoughts, anyone?

I don't have an answer but just wanted to say good luck!

Mother's Day memory...I'm pretty sure I made my mother breakfast in bed one year when I was little and it was something completely horrible, like toast with mustard.

AFM, I'm not feeling hopeful this cycle. Guessing I'm 13dpo (if I ovulated, which was sort of questionable) but BFN this morning and no symptoms whatsoever so I'm basically waiting for AF to show up. If I didn't ovulate when I think I did (based on CP & CM, I didn't do temping or OPKs), I probably won't this cycle and it will drag on for another few weeks until my body gives up, has a half-assed super light period for a week and a half, and starts over. So I'm sort of hoping AF shows up soon so we can have another go.

CD 11 would seem a tad early for a trigger, did you ask what size your follicles were? they grow about 2mm a day and they like to see then in the 18-20 range for triggering (they will then continue to grow 2-4mm since you will O 24-48 hours after trigger.

they also can and should be checking your lining on the U/S they are looking for it to be close to 10mm give or take a few. and a "three line" appearance that shows on an US considering that implantation does not happen for about 8 days after O you probably have plenty of time. Ask tomorrow what the numbers are.

Quote:
What should my uterine lining be at ovulation and at implantation?
As you approach your LH surge, it should be above 6 mm, ideally between 8 and 12 mm. (If it is much more than that, it may be advisable to ask about a hysteroscopy or sonohysterogram to see if perhaps there is a polyp inside the uterus). You want to have a triple stripe pattern around the time of the LH surge and ovulation. Towards the time of implantation, you want to have a more integrated HH or IE pattern. The triple stripe occurs in response to estradiol; the HH/IE conversion is in response to progesterone. It should also be noted that, although most doctors prefer the above pattern of linings, there is no conclusive research on whether a better pattern actually results in higher pregnancy rates.
Quoted from http://www.inciid.org

i always feel better to get numbers rather than them just saying its good or its low, since you never really know what that means
post #8 of 204
One was 15, one was 14, and two were 12. They measured the lining but didn't tell me the measurement. I will ask tomorrow. Thanks!

well at that rate tomorrow they should be around 19, one was 18, and two 16s that is decent but possible just a tad small to trigger. as for the lining, thankfully it does thicken up fast in the final days. i have had it be 4mm on CD12 and 9.6 on CD14 in the past.

are you on any medications, clomid for example has a side effect of thinning your lining. my hunch is that you are good, get the number tomorrow and make sure your RE knows how long your AF is. Do you chart?

Adorkable - Thanks for the pretty new thread! You are very creative with the titles.

Jenne - What an amazing idea for a Mothers Day gift! I bet she loved it. The only memorable Mothers Day I can think of is 2006, when I flew to Michigan from Arizona and showed up at my Mom's work, flowers in hand, and totally surprised her. She was happy and excited, but I think I was closer to tears than she was. I'm sappy that way.

prof.alex - Welcome to our little group! Good luck at your u/s tomorrow. I hope you get all the answers you need, and your follies are nice and ripe!

WTHamI - So sorry about your BFN. That is never easy, no matter how you try to prepare yourself. On a lighter note, your anecdote about making your Mom toast with mustard was cute! It made me think that didn't sound too gross... Can I count that as a pregnancy symptom?

AFM, 6dpo and already anxious to test. I promised myself I would wait until 13 dpo this time. I tested at 10 dpo last cycle, and AF showed up the next day, which made for an unusually short LP. I'm not sure if I can hold out until then, but I'm certainly going to try!

Thanks for starting the lovely thread Adorkable. I agree that May/Maia sounds like a great month to conceive

I don't have any Mother's Day memories that stand out.. I'd love to create some new traditions with my kiddos, though.

Hi, I'm new. I'm Kinza, 31. DH is 38. We've been TTC since November 2008. This is not going well!
kinza good luck to you and welcome!

i have not been posting this cycle, mostly bc i have sort of emotionally given up! this journey is a hard one and i need to learn how to handle it better. dh sperm morphology was not good and i just found out i have endometriosis, although my dr said it is in my right ovary and he does not think it is interfering with conception. dh's dr also said he does not think the morphology is interferinc with conception. HELLO???? well then what's the problemo????? anyway, as i had reported i read up on soy isoflavones for an earlier and stronger O! i took them cd 3-7 and guess what cd13 and i am o'ing! can you believe it? my earliest o has been cd 17 and i usually o cd19-20. this really worked for me. we'll see if the eggy and sperm do the dance! good luck everyone! positive thoughts and lots of hope that we all have a lifetime to create favorite mother's day memories with our own!

I'm sorry to hear about the endometriosis. Sounds like you need some additional explanation from your doctor about the morphology.

Thanks for the tip about the soy isoflavones. My cycles are just like you described--earliest O since I started charting was day 17, and usually it's around day 19 or 20. I might try those out...

And--Welcome Kinza!
Welcome kinza! Have you and your DH had any basic testing yet? It can let you know if something is going on that you need to deal with. Good luck!
Kinza - As Blanca asked, have you all had any tests run yet? Feel free to ask all the questions you need to

iheartmyfamily - The path to become a mother can be very challenging to you. Please believe that I sympathize and I understand. So the endo is not severe enough to do anything about it?

I'm glad the soy is working for you. At least that's one thing you can control

AmandaMom - Have you tested or are you still holding out? Any symptoms/signs?

AFM - I'm 10dpo and just hanging out enjoying the weather. I have a final tomorrow and I can't wait for that to be here and gone!
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys!

My husband has had a sperm analysis. His guys are healthy, there just aren't many of them. He has Type 1 diabetes, so this was not a surprise. His count was 12 million--his endocrinologist said it was very possible to knock someone up with that number, but it might not happen.

I have had my blood drawn and have been assured that my thyroid and everything else is perfectly functional. I do not think this is the case. I have had menstrual problems since I was 10, and when I finally worked up the courage to tell my dad I needed to go to a gynecologist when I was 17, I was slapped right on birth control pills. Stupid me, I took them for 10 years, continued having problems, but any time I mentioned this to a doctor, I was blown off. I went off BC October 2008, issues ensued, I had a pap June 2009, mentioned my issues, and got a prescription for Clomid, no instructions, no warnings, just another prescription (!). So, my DH and I are going to continue to try for one more year on our own, then see if we can see an RE. Our insurance is useless for fertility problems, so we want to keep trying before we beg my husband's mom for money for fertility treatments.

Ok, well, this turned into a book! I guess I'm just frustrated at this point. Thanks for reading.
. On to TTC cycle #2.

So...tell me more about soy isoflavones. I usually don't O until CD 21 or later and it sounds like that may help. What form, how much, when and for how long? I normally avoid soy like the plague since the phytoestrogens make me she-bat crazy but I'll do just about anything to get knocked up, lol. Thinking of adding EPO this cycle too.

On the more practical side, DH is getting put on a job where he will likely be working 12-14 hour days 7 days a week for a few months. It's going to be a battle in itself getting him to put out around O. We'll also be moving more often. For the last year and a half it's been a move every 3-4 months but this job is a geographically long project so we're going to probably have to move to a new RV park every 3-4 WEEKS to keep his commute down. Ugh. And we want to do this with a baby? Even I think we're crazy.
Wow, Kinza, it sounds like a frustrating ride. The idea of telling doctors something YOU know about YOUR body and being blown off is infuriating.
Adorkable - Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful knowledge! I learn so much just through reading your answers to other ladies' questions.

Kinza - Welcome!

Newbian Mama - I hope your final exam went well!

iheartmyfamily - I'm sorry you have been having a rough time. I feel the same sometimes. Some days I think that if I'm not pg this cycle, I will take a break. Between the medicine/vitamins, charting, avoiding alcohol and caffeine, "scheduling" BDs, etc. it becomes frustrating and overwhelming. Especially when it seems that "everyone" else gets pg so easily. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Amanda Mom - Keep us posted about when you test!

WTHamI? - Your life sounds exciting! I love to travel and we once (long ago) thought about living out of an RV and traveling on the weekends.

AFM - I'm waiting to O. Or, rather, trying to figure out when or if I have Oed yet. This is my first month charting and I stress myself out about it. I'm not sleeping well at night because I'm nervous that I'll forget to temp in the morning -- isn't that crazy?!? Anyway, I've been temping at different times in the am because of this. I got an "almost positive" on an OP strip on Thursday, two clear negatives on Fri/Sat, and an "almost positive" this am. So, I don't know what to think! When I test in the afternoons, it is pretty much stark white. I drink so much water that I think my urine is too diluted.

On Friday I temped once very early in the morning (around sunrise) and got 96.6, I tested a little later (after getting up and using the bathroom and then laying down for about an hour and a half) and got 96.8. 96.8 would have been a .5 degree jump from the day before -- ovulation? Or will it be a clear, big jump in temp? I used the 96.6 on my chart since that was the first temp of the day. I also thought I may have felt some O twinges on Thur, but I'm not sure. My CM is pretty much non-existent since I'm taking 150 mg of Clomid this cycle so I can't really use that as a guide. I'm so confused! Here is my chart if anyone would like to give an opinion -- I need it! http://www.tcoyf.com/members/novanic/charts/1.aspx

Sorry this is so long, I'm just a little frustrated and want a clear sign of O!
