Name My Baby ~ PLEASE!

I have nothing. I've been through a thousand names and I can't find "THE ONE". I've always loved the name Arden for a girl, but now that I'm expecting one, the name just isn't clicking for me.

Please, help me out. Tell me your favorite girl names.

Name my baby and I'll love you forever!!

Ask the spirit of your baby to tell you, it may come to you in a dream. But if you can't get Arden out of your mind (even if you think you are opposed to it)- it may the one. if not then, it may not be.

My favorites are Molly (got one right here ), Clover, Lola and River.

I have a small obsession with L names lately.

Lia/Leah
Lila
Lily
Liliana
Laila/Layla/Leila

My boss just named his baby girl Miya (pronounced like Mia) Simone. Love it!

A good site if your stuck is nymbler you can put in your favorite names and get a list of similar names. I also love the book, not the website, Baby Name Wizard, where you can look up a name you like and find similar names based on some computer program they developed, so you wouldn't at first glance think were similar. What kind of names do you like? I tend to favor sur-name names, that start with vowels. I'm on an "A & E" name kick at the moment- but DH keeps vetoing my favorites!! Avery (well, he didn't veto that one, she's 6 now!), Anneliese, Ellery, Emory, Abagail, Adelle, Addison, Ainsley...

Anwyn or Arwen, softer versions of Arden.

My lovely DD is Quinn Madeleine and I love it. I also like

Beckett (DH says no)
Nora (DH says no)
Astrid (my current favourite)
Gracen (made that up from Grayson, think it's kinda interesting)
Avery
Peyton
Anya
Fallon
Riordan
Bryar
Bronwyn

Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide in the end!

I agree. Anwyn and Arwen are beautiful names. I like Arden, too, though I'd prefer it as Ardyn.

Do you have the book "A World of Baby Names" by Teresa Norman? You might enjoy looking through the Welsh section. Some nice ones:

Branwen (I prefer Bronwyn; raven fair)
Carys (KARE-iss; love)
Ceridwen (keh-RID-wen; the Celtic goddess of poetry)
Delyth (DEL-ith; pretty)
Dwynwen (DIN-wen; white wave)
Eirwen (I-rwen; white snow, blessed snow)
Gwyneth (white, blessed)
Morgan (lady of the sea)
Nerys (NER-iss; lord)
Rhonwen (RON-wen, fair-haired or blessed lance)
Tegwen (TEG-wen, lovely maiden)
Winifred (blessed peace)

Thank you all for sharing such beautiful names!!

To those that asked what type of names I like, I'm basically open to anything. Although lately unisex names have been appealing to me.

My short list of favorites before becoming pregnant were Avery, Mia, Morgan, Chloe and Arden. But now that my son has started school, I'm seeing how common some of them are and I'd like her name to be a bit more unique.

My name is Ashley, which wasn't too common when I was born (1975) but now you can't throw a rock without hitting an Ashley. My husband has a more unique name and everyone he meets remembers it. I'd like to offer her a little individuality with whatever we choose but nothing too far out, KWIM?

Thank you again - I never imagined it would be this hard! I'm printing out your suggestions so I can "try them out" over the next few days.

My favorite gender neutral name for a girl is Harper. I love it!

I was talking with a group of moms just today about girl names. These are some of the ones that came up

Addison
Ingrid
Sophia
Evangeline

Hope you find something that speaks to you!

Beatrice/Beatrix is great, too...has a lot of great meanings, including "bringer of joy."

My dd's name is Izzy (not an Isabelle, she is an Elizabeth, but we didn't like the other short names).

If I have another her name will be Darby!

What about Avery? I also like Talia, Audrey, and Teagan. My DD's name is Denae (rhymes with Renee) and she gets compliments on it.

ETA: I hadn't read the thread before I posted, so now I see Avery is already on your list.

We asked Jamie the Intuitive here on MDC, and she told us the name our baby wanted. We are still adjusting to the name request. The interesting thing is that our list of names that we really liked just didn't feel right, whereas this requested name, and a slightly changed name we found that we love the meaning of, feels so completely right to us, although I still don't love the name.
