I think it was Cristeen who mentioned eating homemade onion dip recently and now I am craving it!!!

I know I could look up a recipe but would like a tried & tested (and obviously TF!) one please!

Yup, it was me. ANd it's really easy.

I usually just make a single serving, and I don't measure it... I just mix it to taste. But it's just cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce and chopped onions. Just mash up some cream cheese in your bowl, add a fair bit of W sauce (it takes a bit, since this is your main source of flavor), mix it really well. Then stir in some finely chopped onion. Add more W sauce to taste.

Since I don't use Lea & Perrins anymore, it's been a challenge to find a tasty W sauce without HFCS. Crystal has CS but not HFCS, Annie's is pretty good, but the others I've tried have sucked (although I do have 2 more bottles in the pantry to try - I pick it up whenever I find it).

I start with TONS of caramelized onions. Liek a few big onions sliced or chopped however you want them to look, and saute over med-low heat or just so they don't brown, it takes like a good 20 minutes. Use a couple tablespoons butter/oil. Then i just do mayo/sour cream/cream cheese mix. It's like the california onion dip but a million times better, about half cup of each to 2 or 3 onions depending how big they are. I usually make like a triple batch though, it's so good. And a pinch of ceyenne, and salt to taste

Oh forgot to say : I beat the cream mixture before adding the onions so it's super smooth. If you use a food processor it's great, and then you can add the onions after they cool and pulse a few times if you want it more small bits

This is what I do, too! I haven't tried it with cream cheese (which I can get raw and local), but I typically use past., org. sour cream. MMM, maybe I'll thin my raw cc with raw cream and whip it up....THX
