Hairline fracture, skull, 5m-old

Any advice or been-there questions I ought to think of?

My DS wriggled out of my mother's arms on Friday night and hit the floor head-first. She was sitting down but must have hit just wrong. He didn't lose consciousness and soothed at the breast right away, but I immediately took him to the ER just to be sure. He developed a big bump on the back of his head on the ride there and they did a CT scan. Didn't actually find anything that night, but they called the next AM to say the pediatric radiologist had taken a look and found a hairline fracture underneath the bump.

I've obviously been watching for the 'danger signs' like extreme sleepiness, vomiting, inconsolable crying, etc. He's doing really well...a bit fussy at night but he's teething, too, poor lamb. He's been mostly his normal self...sleeping a little more, fussing a little when he's at the end of his pain med, but smiley and active and alert 90% of the time.

I've been giving him Acetaminaphen for pain every 4 hours as directed, plus applying Arnica several times a day. Made him a comfrey poultice, but that's pretty messy!

Had a follow-up appt with his pedi today and she wants to do an ultrasound to check out a small swelling at the base of his skull. Feels like a lymph node to both her and me, but she wants to be absolutely sure it's not a clot or something (it's just below the fracture).

Can anyone think of further questions I ought to follow up with or additional natural remedies that you may have tried to ease his pain and speed his healing?

Thank-you.

mama. How scary. My DS fell out of a shopping cart head first a few months ago. I know how scary that can be.

Sounds like you and the docs are being very cautious and diligent. I would also be giving arnica internally. Homeopathics are safe at any age. I gave mine remedies when he was that age for various things. This would speed healing as well. Hope he feels all better soon.

I second the arnica internally and if you have aconite I recommend you taking it. It helps with emotional healing after a shock.

It was recommended to me by an awesome homeopath after my son had a scary bout of croup one night. When I took it I could really feel the shift inside. You've certainly experienced your share of fear and shock with this.
