Baby Pooch

I'm so embarrassed to bring this up but I need to.

My son is now 20 months old and I'm ashamed to say that I've only lost maybe 10 pounds of pregnancy weight. I need to lose at least 15 more and I swear it refuses to budge. The biggest issue I have is with that belly pooch at the bottom. I ended up with a c-section and now my belly hangs over. Any recommendations on how to tighten that up?

I'm eating 1200-1400 calories everyday, 20 minutes of moderate exercise everyday. I don't get it. Do you think lack of sleep may be the culprit? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Any way you can exercise more? I've been doing an hour a day, and it's working so far, although I still have a pooch but also have 13 more pounds to go.

If you try (and continue following through with) the exercises and techniques in Lose Your Mummy Tummy, you'll get nice results.

There's a fine line between too few calories and the right amount. That may be just a little low to have enough energy to move enough. Maybe some days it's ok to be that low, but try upping the calories to maybe 1600. Keep your carbs down at least the later half of the day.

The tummy just takes time. You need to exercise though. I lift weghts. Compound movements like squats, walking lunges, one armed rows for your back, can all be done at home with a reasonably priced set of adjustable weight dumbells. It will force you to use your core to stabilize yourself and build some feminine sexy muscles to shape your body.

I lift regularly (3x's a week) at a gym, but i go through spurts where I commit to only bodyweight exercises including dips, pullups, fast circuits and it helps to keep me lean. I would focus on a little weights, and moving some every day. Get your heart rate up a few times a week

AKA_PI, our sons were born a week apart and I'm having somewhat similar issues. I gained almost 50 lbs during pregnancy, lost all but 10 after about 5 months...but I think I've gained some of it back over the winter. I didn't have a c-section, but I certainly have a "mummy tummy" - a very different look than my pre-pregnancy body. I'm hoping to get rid of most of the tummy pooch and get my weight down enough that I can fit into most/all of my old pants/shorts. Right now I think I'm a size bigger, though I can still fit into some of the old stuff if they have some stretch to them.

I've never been an exerciser, so I'm trying to figure out what to do. I'm gonna start with about 30 min. moderate cardio every or almost every day, and hopefully increase to 45-60 min. - which will be tricky in the mega-heat of summer. I wish we had room in our house for a treadmill or stationary bike. I'm thinking brisk walk while pushing DS in stroller. i also started doing some ab exercises - I know you can't use ab exercises to trim down the abs, but I figured it's a good idea to tone them up. I also wanted to work on toning the backs of my arms, so I'm doing some of those chair dip things.
