Can you modify an a-line dress pattern you already may have?

Copy the pieces onto butcher paper (or newspaper or muslin or whatever), draw the curved line in, cut and add s/a to the part you cut. Lengthen the back strap 2-3" so it will overlap the front strap...

You may have to practice a bit to get it just the way you like it... get some $1 fabric at Stuffmart and have fun!

That is really cute. My dd has a similar dress that I love and have thought several time about trying to trace a pattern from. But that curve on the bodice scares me.

stuffmart=walmart... sorry! dh always calls it that after one of the VeggieTales movies-- big box store full of 'stuff'! LOL!

Very cute dress. Maybe ebay has a used pattern or craigslist. They are pricey though. I have found some decent priced patterns on etsy under supplies. Way cheaper than the quilting stores.

Just a little food for thought....these patterns are made by a small company, and the price you pay for them actually gets primarily into the hands of the actual pattern designers. Which in this case is one person. (Not to mention that the patterns have a great reputation for being well written and easy to follow.) Just a little plug for supporting the "little guys" when we can, especially when they sell such great products.

That dress is ridiculously cute!!! If I knew how to sew/knew someone i'd go ahead and buy the pattern. That's how cute I think this dress is!
Especially if it supports the 'little guy'.
