Forced retraction - Now what?

I'm new here and haven't had a chance to search for answers. My son was in the hospital for his first couple months and I just found out that he has had his foreskin retracted several times since he was a couple weeks old. I saw them do it before I could stop them while emptying his bladder for a test. I'm very irate I wasn't consulted.

My question is, now that it's happened what do I do? Can I leave it alone or will it develop adhesions? My ped always had me pull back the remaining foreskin on my other 2 (ignorantly circumcised) sons and he even had to break a couple adhesions on them which was awful! That is exactly one of the reasons we chose not to circ our third, and now I fear he will have problems too!

If it seems to be okay now, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just leave it alone and let it have a chance to heal. The best advice is to just never, ever let anyone but your son retract it. Even if he goes to the pediatrician, don't take his diaper off unless their is a legitimate reason (diaper rash, etc.). Too many parents here have told doctors and nurses not to retract at all, even stood right there with their hand protecting their son's penis, just to have the doctor/nurse say "don't worry, I won't retract" and then do it anyway!

It sounds like it was a health care professional who did the retracting, but make sure any friends/family members/day care providers who might change your son's diaper also know not to retract.

As long as it is left alone to let nature take its course he should be fine. If down the road ie when he is a teen and he has a spot or 2 that are stubborn about releasing he can do simple stretching by itself of along with steroid cream to make them release. In the off chance that dosnt work a cut may be needed to make them let go.

Because of this it is important that you keep the lines of communication open with him so that if something is bothering him he will be willing to talk to you about it and you can help him get the help he needs other wise he may go in as an adult and a Dr. will tell him he needs circed and you may not hear about it in time to help.

Odds are though he wont have any problems as long as nature is left alone to do her job and you make 100% sure that no one but him messes with it from here on out.
