sbgrace, indy folks - play place in indy??

hi, i'm bravely going on a road trip to chicago tomorrow with my asd dd (3). she will really need to stop along the way to decompress and run (the car is going to be full - something she's not used to, and likely will not be a fan of). anyway, i'm driving from cincinnati, and am wondering if anyone knows of a good park or quiet play place that an asd kiddo could handle?? thank you so much in advance!

I'm sorry I missed this.
How was the trip?

I took my kids to Indianapolis last summer. Their Children's Museum was pretty cool.

I don't know if it would be over-stimulating.

Sorry I just found this in searching for people talking about Indianapolis. Next time you come through, PM me if you want to try out the Children's Museum. I can get you two in with my guest passes so you can check out if it'd work for her without having to spend money. (No obligation to stick with me and my overly talkative mouth or with my stimulating toddler. )

Where I'd definitely recommend stopping if you're going all the way up to Chicago, is in Lafayette IN. Columbian Park has a free and small zoo that is very self-guided. The park itself has a couple decent play grounds plus some walking trails.

If your dd needs things to be very serene and doesn't care about having a playground, then the art museum grounds here in Indianapolis would probably do nicely. Gardens with statues, very calm and peaceful. Very few people, especially during the week, and the people who are there are walking around doing their own studying and such.
