Removing oil from clothing

I tried on a cotton/spandex dress before the coconut oil (that I use as moisturizer) had soaked into my skin. The dress now has oil stains despite several washings. I even rubbed Dawn into the stains and let it sit overnight. No luck. Any other suggestions on what may lift the stains?

I have therapist friends who add a squirt of Dawn to the washing machine (along with regular detergent) and everything comes clean from the oily sheets. Not sure how that is different than what you did, but maybe???

I just squirt dish detergent (for hand washing, not dishwasher detergent) straight on the oil spot and run it through in the wash. I don't rub it or anything. Dish detergent is made to cut grease so it's the best choice. Just try it again if it doesn't come out the first time.

DAwn dishsoap. It will even work on old oil stains.

I use a stain remover called Lestoil. It works well, but sometimes it's hard to find. I buy it at Ace Hardware.

If you've run it through the dryer the stains are going to be much harder to get out.

DH recently got grease on a pair of nice pants. I washed and dried the stain, not knowing it was there. And then I tried a little liquid Dr. Bronner's with some water, and the stain completely came out!
