My son is 16 mo. We are down to nursing 2x/day, when he first wakes up, and when he goes to sleep. I also WOHM full time, so we normally don't nurse during the day.
He has 4 teeth on top and 3 on the bottom, and I don't know if its the teeth or what, but I can't comfortably nurse him for the past few months. I tried repositioning him, and going back to basics (nipple to nose, body position). It doesn't work. I have never been able to nurse him in any other position than cradling him (except football when he was first born) I can't nurse him laying down either. It hurts throughout the entire time while we are nursing, and there is usually teeth marks on my nipples when he is done thou he is not biting. He also likes to pull back his head while still latched on, and that hurts like hell. Or he will push off the chair/couch with his feet, achieving the same effect.
I hate to stop breast-feeding because I don't think he is ready. It is still a huge source of comfort to him not to mention all the benefits. But I AM DONE with the pain. I really can't do it anymore. He can go to sleep with daddy fine, but if Im there, he won't let me read to him or give him a binky - he just wants to nurse. I sit here so frustrated and in pain, and I don't know what to do. Why does it hurt so much? It didn't hurt when he just got his teeth up until few months ago, and he had these teeth for at least 6-8 months. What else gives?
His mouth doesn't have any signs of thrash, but my nipples almost look like they have scabs, and after nursing, there is little pieces of ?flash?, they look like what your cuticles look like after you soak your hands in water. May be something wrong with me?
Sorry for the rant, I just need some help!
