Anybody else have a babe that's up with the sun?

Do I need to black out all the windows? Anyone BTDT and found a solution?

On a foggy day he might make it to 7, but the other morning (a bright clear morning) he was up before 6. Mommy can't deal with such little sleep.

Yes, yes, yes! You have to black out the windows. Our latest solution is to drape a comforter over the curtain rod. Anything you can do to keep out the sun is a good start. We have black-out shades, and they still don't cover the little lines around the window through which the sun comes in, so if you can find a cheaper solution (like blanket), go for it!

None of those worked for us. Babe was a morning gal from the very beginning (water broke at 3am, had her by 1130) So I napped when she did AND learned to get stuff done in the morning then rest in the afternoon. Our childless friends dispaired of us when we would call at 9am on Sunday..hey want to do brunch? lol

we just switched to her time for a good while. She is almost 12 now and SHE is the one that wants to sleep in now...grins..so there is hope...

DS has always been an early riser as well, and we have blackout curtains. They don't really help him sleep in any later, but they are great for naps and going to bed in the summer before it gets dark outside!

I agree that it might be easier for you to go to bed with her, at least while you try and get her on a later schedule, for the time being. That said, morning starts at 6AM over here, if we're lucky. DP gets up for work between 4AM-5:30AM, and in a small apartment, it often means everyone else is up whenever he is. I just have learned to be in bed at 8PM, if the baby is willing.

Nothing has worked for us. DS is up at 5:45 on the button every single day. After the clocks changed, we got two days of 6:45 then right back to 5:45. It boggles my mind how precise he is. Anyway, I've tried everything (including posting here!) and nothing can get him to sleep in. The two things that save my sanity are that he goes to bed very early (6 pm) so I get time to myself then and I go to bed around 8 every night, though I wish I didn't have to. Also, he is a great napper and is a fan of alone time so he goes back to bed around 8 am for another hour or two. If I'm good, I go back to bed then too.

Try everything but you may just have to accept it and rearrange your schedule and just get used to it. Before we know it they'll be thirteen and we'll be complaining about how they sleep till 2 (sorry, not helpful at all! ).

We have two layers of blackout curtains and a towel covering the crack under the door. We just cannot sleep around the sun because of DP's work schedule. He would NEVER see her. It works for getting her to not wake early.

BUT she wakes frequently, and I wonder if she would sleep better if I allowed the sun to wake her...
