I really like Wilderness Family Naturals and the Radiant Life Company-- both of which sometimes have sales on bulk quantities of really excellent coconut oil.

Vitacost is a good place to order, sorry don't know how to do a link. I use Nutiva brand and I have heard NSI brand is good too around 21 dollars for a 54oz jar. I love spreading it on sprouted grain bread

I've just placed another order at MRH for a gallon of coconut oil! I've been satisfied with their product, and it's cheap. There's lots about TF that can get really expensive if you let it, and buying good (but perhaps not the best) coconut oil at a good price feels like a good balance to me.

soaperschoice.com is the best price that I know of, even with shipping!

swood, is the stuff at soaperschoice good for eating? btw, i am in charlotte, too!

whole foods, organic expeller pressed co is 5.69 per 16oz glass bottle. best deal ive found. theres 8 pints in a gallon so the cost is about 45$ per gallon. some companies offer a gallon for a bit less but then you pay shipping and the deal isnt a deal anymore.

I waited until Tropical Traditions was offering free shipping and ordered 5 gallons.

yes! It is all food grade. There is a great post about it on KitchenStewardship.com where she asked them tons of detailed questions about their oils.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, Glorybee Foods has the best price I've found. The shipping costs go up the further away you are though, so if you are on the East coast, not such a good deal.

For me it costs about $40 to get a gallon of Extra virgin Coconut oil, delivered. Or I can get regular coconut oil (which I use to fry stuff) for $25 a gallon, delivered. Or.. I pick it up when we are visiting family in Eugene and save myself the shipping charge. Then it's only $33 for the virgin and $17 for the regular.

If you have a Sunflower Farmer's Market nearby, their house brand is $5.something for 15 oz.

Mountain Rose Herbs has the best price by far. I've never seen sales or free shipping on coconut oil but they are running a pretty tight ship as it is. In the top left of the MDC site, click on "buy herbs" to go to Mountain Rose Herbs -- that's the MDC affiliate link.

Wow, the MRH price is quite good! However, once I added on the shipping charges, I found it wasn't any better than what I've been paying for Nutiva (which costs more but has free shipping). So I'd say, get what you think tastes best. Has anybody done a taste comparison between the various brands? I wouldn't have thought there'd be much difference in the taste of different brands, but I have compared Nutiva to Tropical Traditions and was surprised how much I preferred the taste of Nutiva.

RLC is the same product as Wilderness Family. Wilderness Family bottles and labels for RLC.

Only Tropical Traditions. They are the only one I have found that is not cross contaminated with peanuts for my allergic son.

But I have tried MANY brands prior to them and TT tastes the best to me. They have different "levels" and price ranges, and some awesome large bulk sales (on their Healthy Buyers Club side) that just can't be beat. I save up and buy by the gallons too. Cheaper in the long run.

Currently Nutiva has the best price that I have seen for the virgin- it is on sale right now 4-1 gallons- for $175 with free shipping. And if you use the code FBFAN you get 20% off making the price $35 per gallon. When I order 5 gal from MRH it ends up at $38 a gallon - including the shipping. I got some WFN the last time they had a big sale and free shipping but it still ending up being $40 a gallon.

I buy nutiva at Amazon because I can get free delivery and they have a variety of sizes. I don't use a lot of oil, so I really don't need it by the gallon.

Blasphemy! You know you are on the TF section right I will be doing good if the 4 gal last a year and it keeps for a few yrs or so. I also probably have about 2-3 gallons of palm shortening and the same of grassfed tallow.
