Help me w lanolizing plz

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong... but I just washed/lan'd my wool because it was starting to feel wet, and it didn't seem to do any good.

I melted the lan in hot water, added some Eucalan and filled the bowl with warm water (more warm than cold) before putting my woolies in. But by the time the wool got in, there was a white film of lan around the edges of the bowl already where it had recongealed.

What am I doing wrong? I just got a new batch of woolies so I'll have a larger rotation, so I can really get the older ones "fixed", if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong, of course.

I came across this tutorial via a google search and found it to be the most helpful with lanolizing, plus it's witty.

This may not help, because I don't use Eucalan, I use lanolin and whatever liquid soap (Dr. Bronners, say) I have around. But this is how I do it:

First I wash the wool in a tub of lukewarm water with a tiny squirt of soap in it. You know, swish the wool through the water a few times, let it soak for 10 minutes, swish it around again. Then I rinse it in cool water.

Next I refill the tub with more lukewarm water. Meanwhile, I put a pea-sized amount of lanolin and another little squirt of soap into a mug or something, and then I run the hottest water I can into the mug. I swirl it around until the lanolin dissolves (which happens quickly). Then I dump the mug of lanolin/soap into the tub, and then add the wool. I swish it through the water once or twice. Sometimes I leave it to soak for a little bit. Sometimes I don't. (I can see the water go from cloudy to clearer, as the wool takes up the lanolin.) Then I take the wool out and rinse it very briefly. Then I squish it in a towel to get the worst wet out of it. Then I lay it to dry.

I think dissolving the lanolin in hot water before putting it in with the wool is key - maybe if you dissolved some Eucalan in a cup of hot water before adding it to your wool, it would help?

I started buying Lanolin spray because I had a hard time with it too. Though that tutorial looks awesome, I'll try following that with my next babe.
