I now officially have an "egg lady"

I bought my first dozen organic, free-range chicken eggs today from a local farmer! My husband calls her my "egg lady." The chickens came right up to me in the yard when I pulled up to the farm.

Of course, I just had to fry one up as soon as I got home. Wow.. the yolks were a beautiful marigold color.

Awesome! I bet they taste amazing! We just recently found raw milk again. Tonight is my first pick up! It's a great feeling to find your "in," isn't it?

Good for you!
Four years after finding her, I can officially say that I love my egg lady! She's like a grandmother to me. And my kids love her and her chickens, too!

Yay! We get our eggs/raw milk from one person and then some more eggs from my mom's boyfriend. It is a relief to finally have found reliable sources and I have a smile on my face when it is "egg" or "milk" day! My kids won't really eat grocery store eggs anymore, they have been spoiled by the taste of the good stuff

When I was little my dad was a dentist. For some of his patients who couldn't afford care they traded in kind. One of these was our egg-lady Once a week she'd drop off several dozen eggs by our back door and we'd save the cartons and put them back on the porch on "egg day". I remember sometimes the eggs had a green shell and on occasion we'd get an egg that had a double yolk. Those were the coolest things (to an 8 year old, lol). We only bought store eggs *maybe* once a year -- because brown eggs don't dye as fancy for Easter
The joys of the Egg Lady. Wish I had one now!

My grandma was the egg lady on the country road I grew up on. Her friends would come and shoot the breeze for at least an hour (and hopefully remember to take their eggs home!) I didn't realize what a great childhood I had living next door to my grandparents' farm until I grew up.
