I bought my first dozen organic, free-range chicken eggs today from a local farmer! My husband calls her my "egg lady." The chickens came right up to me in the yard when I pulled up to the farm.
Of course, I just had to fry one up as soon as I got home. Wow.. the yolks were a beautiful marigold color.

Once a week she'd drop off several dozen eggs by our back door and we'd save the cartons and put them back on the porch on "egg day". I remember sometimes the eggs had a green shell and on occasion we'd get an egg that had a double yolk. Those were the coolest things (to an 8 year old, lol). We only bought store eggs *maybe* once a year -- because brown eggs don't dye as fancy for Easter
