House Rules-Jody Picoult - anyone read it?

My title sort of says it all .

I'm currently reading it - it's about an 18 year old young man with Asperger's who is charged with murder. I'm curious about others' thoughts.

I haven't read it, I might have to check it out. Is it any good so far?

I just finished it. It was "OK". It did a pretty good job of describing Asperger's (I would say pretty severe Asperger's). My son doesn't have Asperger's (although he was tested for it - it was thought to be a possibility) so I am not an expert, but have some idea what Asperger's is like. The kid in the book seemed to have EVERY symptom to the nth degree.

I didn't like the ending, just my opinion. I think she has written better books. This one was a bit melodramatic - again, just my opinion.

I'm a Jodi Picoult fan but this isn't one I have read yet (I liked The Pact). I think I was turned off by some of the reviews on Amazon, but maybe I'll download it anyhow.

I like it so far; I'm about a third of the way in. It hurts to read - the intensity of the mom's involvement with every aspect of her son and the effect this has on her personally; the sib who feels left out and all sorts of other tough feelings (similar to Handle with Care). Jacob, the boy with Asperger's, makes me feel tender and I find him very appealing but I'm not enjoying what's coming up in the story.

I have only read a handful of Picoult's books and I often don't like the ending, and this is an unusual genre for me but I find most of her conflicted stories pretty compelling.

DD and I recently read a YA fiction book that was told from the perspective of a middle schooler with Asperger's. It was good but I can't recall the title just now.

I didnt like it. Too many symptoms, too many 'symptom repeats'. I felt like I was re-reading the same passages over and over again. She has done better. Her past 2-3 books seem to follow the same format. One sib is responsible for another...yada yada yada...
But this book really did have EVERY symptom to the extreme.

I have the Schillings book on hold at the library. 'The best kind of different', I hope that one is better http://www.amazon.com/Best-Kind-Diff...3207667&sr=8-1

I read it recently, and loved it. really touched my heart. i could see a lot of my son in the main character. that said, it made me worry more about his future then i already do.

I'm not a big fan of her writing style.

I'll probably have to wait on the book. I already worry too much and I don't need to add to that.
