5 years and three kids later....

I have decided to go back to school but am still struggling with what to study. I went originally for dental hygiene- then found I hated the job while I was working at a dental office. I found birth work when I was pregnant with my first son, but it just isn't something that fits with our situation right now. I have always loved marine biology (like a lot of people I'm sure) but advanced science / math are not my forte. Though DH does great in both areas, he could help me.

Any advice, tips? What are you studying? I feel like I need a career advisor and guidance counselor all over again. I realize I am going about everything in life bass ackwards, but it is what it is.

My youngest is now 5 and I've just begun my journey this January to become a midwife. I haven't been accepted to the new Masters program yet but I've applied and will be interviewing in 2 weeks. I'm working on my prerequisites and it's pretty tough but doable. I mostly study while Im at school and don't try to get much done at home.
I never thought I wanted to be a midwife. My undergrad degree was in International Relations and I've worked in boring corporate cubicle farms for most of my working career. This is a big shift but it's totally the right thing for me. The idea came to me in December and everything has worked and fallen into place so far.

1)What kind of things give you the most fulfillment? any activity, hobby, topic, issue, etc.

2)Can you envision yourself doing something and being really happy?

3)What makes you passionate?

4)What are you good at?

5)Have you had any obstacles in your life that you have overcome and want to help others do the same?

6)Do you enjoy working with things or people, in general?

I would ask these kind of things and go from there.

And if you are still not sure, a solid liberal arts education never hurt anyone, I think. It may give you some direction when you are exposed to different subjects.

I'm studying to be a dietitian.
I think Moonyoungi has some good questions for you to answer.
At our school we have a career center- they have tons of quizzes and questionnaires to fill out to find out what your interests are.
