Who do I call for test results?

Last weekend, we took our six-year-old to the ER because of a really quick spreading rash that looked like his face was being eaten off. It turned out to be impetigo, and they gave him two antibiotics injections, oral antibiotics, and a topic antibiotic ointment. It seems to be clearing up, although he now looks like he has a weird case of scabby sunburn.

Anyway, they cultured it and I would really like to know for sure what it is since I am pregnant. Would they have sent the results to my family doc? Do I need to call the hospital? I would hope that if it was not impetigo and was something I need to be concerned about, they would have let me know, but I don't want to leave that to chance.

Thanks!

Did you give them your Family Docs name? If you did, then you should contact your family Doc for the result. I would start there.

I did, in the triage paperwork stuff. I think. It was midnight, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details, LOL! I'll call tomorrow. If they don't have it, maybe they'd be willing to track down the info.

Oh I know the fuzzy on the details thing all to well. Sometimes we get out of Gabrielle's specialist appointments and I go "He said what?" Then I have to write down questions and call the assitant.

Did you get the results?

Yeah. Oddly enough everything was negative-- nothing but normal skin cells. Weirdness.

Oh that is freaky! Wonder what caused the rash.
