My dd is only 3, and I did some self-betterment things before she was born too, but here is a list of some things I've done for myself:
-Grew a garden
-Learned to sew simple items
-Educated myself on how to heal myself and my family through alternative means
-Taught myself to crochet
-Got my B.S. degree
-Picked up painting again
-I read alot, to stay educated on current ideas/news
-I just ordered subscriptions to Popular Science and Smithsonian because they are incredibly interesting to me
-I try to eat healthy and get some exercise and fresh air just for myself
-I do yoga on occasion (wish I was doing it more
)
-I am learning to cook a wide variety of interesting and healthful meals/foods
Some things on my to-do list:
-find a volunteer position that I find interesting
-do more yoga
-ditch the coffee and replace w/green tea
-exercise more regularly

I'm curious what everyone else has to say, too. I'd like to eventually go back and finish my degree -- I did two years online when ds was little, but the rest will have to be on campus, which makes it more difficult. I loved my online courses -- during the first couple years after ds was born, when I felt like my brain was turning to mush, it was nice to challenge myself after ds went to bed.
I try to read whenever possible. I also try to keep up with news and politics (and debate here and there) so I'm not completely blindsided by things.
I still feel like I'm missing out on other things I could/should be doing, and with a baby due any day now, they'll end up being pushed aside for a while. Once we get into a better pattern, though, I'd like to work at this, too.
