Argh why?!?

Why is it that my son will sleep a long stretch (5 hours or so) only once a month?? It's like a tease and I HATE IT. *I* don't sleep that long a chunk because I'm so used to waking every couple of hours.

He doesn't want to spoil you. Haven't you heard what happens when you spoil a parent? They'll demand you sleep longer all the time or alone in a crib in a room, there will be less to kick and roll onto at night, their muscles will atrophy from decreased holding/wrestling-the-baby-time, the night-time buffet will eventually close...etc.

Forget it! Spoiling parents is bad for parents! And in a blink of an eye it'll all be over.

Don't fret, we mamas are so resilient .

hehe. DD has only slept 5 hours four times since she was 2 months old. I also can't sleep that long because of how she's trained me to wake every couple of hours. She slept because she was sick or some freak incident. And, Every Time, I'm like, YAY!! she's going to sleep longer and longer and longer until STTN! woohoo! bouncing off the walls. (I get really excited for a 4 hour stretch also)

...and the next night when she's back to waking, I make excuses. I hold on to the dream...

They do it because when they finally do sleep longer, we'll be SO grateful and appreciative. I'll never take sleep for granted again.

I just wanted to commiserate because last night DD woke every 45 minutes. It was so bad, I woke up three hours earlier than usual because I was tired of waking. ??? hahaha.

^ last night was HORRIBLE for us. He didn't just wake up every 45mins...he woke up screaming. I have NO idea what was up. I think it was night terrors...

Well--I'm not sure at all--mine does that sometimes to---a few weeks ago he actually slept all night in his crib!!!! I didn't expect it to happen again--that way I don't get made when he wakes and sure enough he's back to up 1-2x a night. He is usually easy to get back to sleep though. Do you think maybe you baby is teething? Mine is 16mo and I just nothiced a new tooth coming in.
