Question about wipes

Thread Starter
I've been CD'ing for nearly 9 years, but now with my 4th, I've just discovered wipe solutions. (What can I say, I'm a slow learner.) So, what do I use for the oil? I've been using Burt's Bees Apricot oil, but that's going to get rather expensive, I think. And I don't want to use baby oil, b/c isn't that a petroleum byproduct? What do you use?

Ditto. I just wet a washcloth (I got a TON of those baby ones from friends) and wipe...I've never used a "solution" of any kind.

I use washcloths in one of the plastic pampers containers I got free. I put about an inch of water in the bottom with 2-3 drops of lavendar EO. I know some people use tee tree oil, but I personally don't like the smell.

I use Apricot Oil from Aura Cacia. It's MUCH, MUCH cheaper than the Burt's Bee's and it's relatively odorless. I also use it on my skin and it's fantastic.

I switch between using plain water or a solution I make myself w/the Apricot oil, TTO, lavender, witch hazel and water.

yep thats what I've done and will do with newest one when he/she arrives. Way simplier. If they had a rash I *might* use some oil but I just used EVOO from our cupboard

We use a pump top thermos full of hot water. Refill that every couple days.

I haven't started Cding yet - but I've heard great things about coconut oil for a wipes solution. Good luck!

I buy Baby Bits. They smell wonderful and are cheap and easy to use. My daughter is 13 months and I have only had to buy these twice. I probably won't need to buy more for at least 3 more months. I bought mine from Nurtured Family. It's just a little "bit" you dissolve in hot water and pour over the wipes.

I make up a 16oz jar of:
16oz water
1-ish Tbsp of Olive oil
2-ish tsp of our organic baby shampoo & body wash
Shake it up and keep it in the fridge
Then I use my (well cleaned) peri bottle from the hospital, fill it half way with hot water, the other half with my mixture above and keep the bottle with rolled up baby washcloths in our wipe warmer. I also have some of the California Baby calming diaper spray which I really like for stubborn sticky/staining poops
Seems to be working well! Just plain water would be fine too but I like the smell of the baby shampoo and the conditioning properties of the olive oil, our DD has really dry skin.

My LO has a very rash prone bottom, So plain water was not working for us.
In a gallon of distilled water:
pour off 2 1/4 cups
add one cup Virgin coconut oil or EEVO
One cup Apple Cider Vinegar
about a shot glass of tee tree oil
a tablespoon or so of baby shampoo, soap if desired

Have to shake like the dickens to get it to mix every time I wet my wipes.
I put all my wipes in a tupperware container and pour in just enough to make them all damp, then store the solution some place cool.
