If you don't do WBV...

Do you worry about things like iron levels? Vit D levels? Or any of those things that they test for at the appts?

I haven't thought about Vit D levels because we do raw milk and raw milk products only... Iron, though, I don't know. DS loves meat and still nurses frequently.

um... we do well babies, and my kid hasn't been tested for vit d or iron? You can always schedule one and request the test though.

I Don't worry about it here.

I have 4 kids and NONE of them have EVER had ANY kind of blood testing except for the PKU at birth. Period. We stopped doing WBV not because of shots- but because the visits were pointless. It was an oppertunity for the Dr. to give her/his OPINION regarding my parenting skills.

I didn't do WBV with DD1, DD2 always gets them because of her health issues, and DS goes in once in a while when I feel like it. Neither one has ever been tested for iron for Vit D, I'm obviously not too concerned about it.

Our ped used to test their iron between 9 and 12 months.

No one's ever checked their Vit D.

I did WBV with my oldest and yeah, they never did those kinds of tests. It was all just checking height, weight, and looking the baby over. Nothing too interesting.

Thank You AFWife! We do those but they are never more than checking milestones and if I have any Q"s. No blood tests, my doc won't do them unless it is reallyneeded.
