First of all my son turns 2 tomorrow but will be to sick to do anything
It started in September of last year. He got the swine flu or something like it. After that he got a couple different illnesses. Bad colds and once the stomach flu. He was good for a while and then this winter the illness thing blew up.
Starting in January he has gotten sick every other week pretty consistently. Nine times in a little over 5 months. He is of course sick right now. He has a fever of about 104 and has had it since late last night.
I took him to the doctor and the guy made me feel kinda stupid. Like me not giving him Tylenol was a bad thing. He actually told me that a fever over 101 is not doing any good for him. He looked at him for five or so seconds and told me that he has an ear infection and prescribed an antibiotic.
I don't think he is right. All the reading I have done is telling me that fevers are a good thing. My son is not showing any pain besides the normal fever misery. He is eating and talking and a bit listless but I would be too if I were in his shoes.
Do I do the antibiotics? Do I use the Tylenol?
I do plan on making an apt with a pediatrician but I am afraid he will do the same thing, make me feel a bit silly about not vaxing and about not wanting to use Tylenol unless the fever is really bad or my baby boy is really in misery.
This is not right. I even took him out of daycare because he was getting sick so often. He got the stomach flu twice in April! He probably puked over 40 times last month. How could he have gotten another virus, he hasn't been around another kid in a month. How can he get sick EVERY 2 WEEKS?!? Not just the sniffles but a fever for three or more days that leads to cold like symptoms or puking.
I am getting more and more worried that something is wrong. Am I just worrying to much? I was laid back but when it just keeps happening I start getting more and more stressed and more and more worried and a little scared.
Thanks for reading this. Any ideas of what to do? How do I find a ped that is more in line with my way of thinking?
