Thoughts on DD not using left leg on steps and having weakness?

I noticed that DD doesn't alternate legs when climbing stairs, she relies on her right.

So I've been encouraging her to use her left.

a. She seems to have a hard time 'finding' her left leg. I will touch it even and say 'use this leg' and she'll still use the right.

b. She's weak. I think. Maybe she was playing. But today I had to help her lift her body weight with that leg. I tried 'pretending' and not taking her weight to see if she could do it, she couldn't.

She walks fine. Runs fine. Hops fine. Dances fine.

Do you think I should take her to the ped?

I would take her in. My son had a knee issue where he would collapse while running (his knee would give out). They tested him for cancer and juvenile arthritis...when they found nothing, they did an MRI on his knee and found that he had a rare congenital condition called discoid meniscus. So you just never know. I would have never guessed my son's diagnosis.

You could take her in to ease your mind, but both of my kids walked that way up stairs. In fact my DS, 3.5, is just now starting to do it normally.

Ah okay. This is helpful.

I think we'll work on it this weekend and see where we're at Monday.

Yup. You never know. I'm going to be watching DD closely now.
