DD has cough

..I'm pretty convinced it's allergy related [our pollen count is super high]

DD has a cough - sometimes it's productive and sometimes it's a dry cough. No accompanying fevers or illness; she's sleeping, eating etc. The only other "symptom" is a runny nose [clear..]

But the cough sounds well, horrible! It comes in spurts especially during the early morning hours [5amish] and I want to know what I can do for her.

I've been giving her water with lemon, and a spoonful of raw honey for her throat but that's basically it.

Any help/advice?

I've been having a cough for the last 2 days myself and this is the remedy I've been using. It's a traditional Indian remedy for cough. Boil a cup of milk with 1/4 tsp turmeric and 4-5 peppercorns crushed. Boil it till the spices are properly steeped. Let it cool a little and give it to your daughter. If the taste is unpalatable to her, you can add some raw honey to it. I'm having some relief today.

I would say that the cough is caused by mucus running down her throat. Maybe try some saline drops and some inhalation of eucalyptus or tea tree oil to help clear her sinuses.

ETA: You can also try a couple of drops of the above oil on a hanky inside her pillowcase to help during the night.
