The Onion "Nurse Where We Please"

Has anyone else seen this video, put out by the Onion?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxZBV...Vs&feature=sub

On one hand, it made me laugh, especially when she whipped out the breast pump at the end (I have the same one!). On the other hand, it made lactivists look like loonies...

What do you think?

I hope this is appropriate for this forum. If not, I'm sorry!

That was awesome, I thought it was funny.
I don't think it makes anyone look like loonies. If they had wanted to make lactavists look like loonies or been against nip, the tone of the whole skit would have been much different. I think the fact that her speech was so well put together makes it a point for this side, but that's my take on it.
And bravo for her willingness to pump on camera- I wasn't expecting such a relistic depiction of pumping.
LOL, thanks for sharing!

I like it. The noise of the pump going at the end cracked me up.

Funny, thanks for sharing!

I don't think it makes lactivists look like loonies. I took it as people breastfeeding in public aren't doing it in a crazy way, like going to taco bell at 2am, they are doing it because their baby needs to eat.

Funny, and almost tasteful and encouraging in a satired kind of way.

I didn't think it was super funny but I'm also hormonal and in a bad mood

I do, however, agree with this sentiment.

I thought it was funny that the woman was an actual breastfeeding mother (the photo of her "testifying" and the pumping at the end.) That is a good thing for sure!

I thought it was funny but not hilarious, probably because so many of those things have been said in seriousness so many times that I'm missing how it's funny to people who haven't heard them.

I did think they were actually really respectful and give them kudos for actually showing a real breastfeeding mom instead of faking it and sexualizing it (which is always done in movies because they want that comedic awkwardness).

I did think the pump noise was funny. Is that model really that loud?!

I thought it was funny, especially the part about women shouldn't have to breastfeed without everyone telling them how beautiful it is!

Interesting. The "testifying" shot seemed fake to me -- baby's head was at her armpit, not her breast. And I think they even could have faked the milk squirting into the pump bottle, too. I'm not positive either way -- just skeptical.

Oh, you know, thinking about it now maybe it was fake. I didn't watch very closely.

I had mixed feelings too. I can laugh at it but it still felt like being made fun of. If I knew the people were supportive of bf, I'd think it was funny. If they aren't, I wouldn't.

Yes! It's so noisy, but it works well.

I thought it was funny. Especially the part where she says "We won't stop our fight until a breastfeeding mother can stop and feed anywhere, and people will stop what they are doing, watch her, and tell her how beautiful it is." LOL
