I'm just curious if anybody else has had the same experience. We got our cat a little over a year before DD was born. She was only 6 weeks old when we got her and it was clear she probably shouldn't have been weaned already (she was already not living with her mom at that point). Anyways, she took right to me and started "nursing" on the sleeve of my shirt. She'd kneed it and purr and that's one of the ways she still falls asleep to this day! She also always co-slept with us (well, until DD started cosleeping with us and then she got kicked out).
She's very, very attached to me, much more than any cat I've ever had before. She also is extremely playful, plays fetch etc. AND she's very, very mischievous. She's constantly getting into things (she's somewhat better now that she's a bit older, at least). She loves water and used to climb into the shower when we were taking showers!!
What's so funny is that DD is almost exactly like her. Loves to cosleep, very attached, won't sleep without nursing. They even get into the same things so much so that we are always confusing their names when they get into trouble! If someone is at the door or either DH or I have to leave they both rush to the door in hopes of escaping.
They even play with the same toys too.
It's just strange because they are soooo much alike! We had cats growing up and I've had many friends with cats so I've seen quite a few of them and I've never seen this before. My friends' cats just seemed so much more aloof. What's nice is that now that DD's a toddler her and our cat are best buds. Our cat even puts up with DD's constant hugs and they like to take naps together (on the rare occasions that I let them because I'm in the room).
I was just wondering if anybody else has experienced the same thing? I guess at least DH and I are consistent in our parenting! I wonder if any future kids/pets will be the same!
