Wondering if there's any correlation between increased acne in pregnancy and baby's gender. I would say that I've never had *substantial* increase (some, yes, especially early, but not a ton) and I've only ever had boys. I remember friends having more issues, and I think those were all girl pregnancies.

So, for our very "scientific" poll:

If you've had a substantial increase of acne in pregnancy, what did you have or are you carrying now?

ETA - The "both" choice is if you had boy/girl twins, not separate pregnancies. And I'm very curious to see if anyone uses "other."

I never had an increase with any of my three girls.

That was a funny post I couldn't vote, 'cause my skin was beautiful throughout my first pregnancy! It was a girl. That was such a nice change, and relief in my skin for me (at 23), because I'd been dealing with acne since I was 10! I'm only 5 or 6 weeks along with my second pregnancy so far, and my skin is miraculously gorgeous again.

But this baby will have to be a boy, because by some crazy magic miracle I got pregnant, even though my husband's been on testosterone replacement therapy for 8 months! It's supposed to be impossible because my husband's body wasn't (supposed to be) making any sperm at all, since the hormone was there already, making his body think it wasn't necessary to make any... We were planning on having a baby soon anyway (he was going to start hCG), so this is pretty crazy and funny to us. Apparently we won the lottery. Those were the odds!

Sorry to babble, I haven't talked to anyone about this at all yet.. you can understand.

Sending good skin vibes to all

I had decreased acne with both my pregnancies - a girl and a boy.

I will tell you in 4 months - my skin is a mess - I don't remember it being like this with any of my other kids, and I have both genders.

I have battled acne since I was 11. I have nasty cystic acne that hurts! During my pregnancies, my acne was 1000% worse and my face actually bleed every day. Both pregnancies were girls. This time I am 13 weeks and my skin is the same - my face and upper body has cystic acne that is very painful. It is so much worse then it was before I was pregnant.

My first pregnancy was my son, and my entire back was riddled with acne, it was so awful! I've never had acne on my back before or since, but during the second half of the pregnancy I was just covered in it. Could not wear anything that showed my back. I read something about the boy hormones just needing to make their way out, and sometimes choosing the skin as the way to get out. This pregnancy it's still too early to tell whether I'll get it again, and whether that will be any indicator of gender, or if it's just something my body does in reaction to pregnancy!

Ive got large hurty zits more now than I remember in the past 5 years since DD was born. I dont remember with DS but at the time I was still a late teenager getting them anyway so I wouldnt horribly notice if they were worse than how bad they were to begin with or not.

Don't remember my first two dc, but I vaguely recall it being worse with my son. My last two daughters I had clear skin.

I voted "other" because I had HORRIBLE acne with my daughter and my son but they were two different pregnancies (not twins).

If anything the acne has been slightly worse with my son.

Wow! Really curious how many different experiences there are - though not truly surprising, to be sure!

I voted other because while I only had acne really bad with my first, ALL of my babies (5) were girls. I've had very different pregnancies, despite the fact that the sex of the baby was always female.

I never had acne issues until I got pregnant with my first girl. Had pimples right through the second as well.

It finally stopped with this pregnancy (a boy).

The poll results are making me think I am having a girl!

Serious increase in acne in each of my pregnancies, and a different type of acne than I have ever had before having children. I am due with my third son.

I did with my second, who is a boy, but not with my first boy or the girl I'm having this time. My butt was gigantic when I was pregnant with him, too. He did not do anything for my looks! I've looked great with the other two, a boy and a girl, so I don't think it was the baby's sex. I don't know what it was, though. Perhaps I got pregnant again too soon (my first two are only 35 mos. apart).
