My first go-round, before I tested, I was also full of nervous energy, craving something, looking for something in the kitchen but nothing at all sounded good, til I saw a jar of smoked oysters, and COVETED it. I ate the whole thing right then and there, and nothing ever tasted so good.
This time (baby #3) I was again, days before testing, but pacing the kitchen, needing something, nothing sounding good. Then it hit me: the jar of sardines! There was a glass jar of filleted sardines! I piled sardines all over my salad, ate sardines plain with my fingers, etc.
Yesterday, I was hungry all day long. Really, actively feeling famished.
Not craving anything though. Been taking good supplements.
I expect the sickness will set in in about a week to 10 days, though, and then it will be hard, because if I haven't weaned my son by then, I will still be unable to eat any dairy, egg, soy, chocolate, tomato, blueberry, almond, or strawberries. Maybe he has outgrown some of them, but I have been too unwilling to find out the hard way.
It's tough to imagine going through pg not eating all that, because in the first tri, both times before, I got a total aversion to meat. Made me nauseous. Egg and dairy were my salvation.
I guess I could have spirulina this time, if I ended up still having to nurse, but I really am moving to wean, because I just can't handle the nipple pain and low supply and hormonal heebies I get in pregnancy. He's 2 1/2, and I think we will both survive. Not ideal, but perhaps necessary.
