What are YOU eating now? - Page 2

Ugh for the most part I hate food when I am pregnant. I only have been pregnant one other time but the extreme food aversions have started again already. I do every once in a while get an intense craving though. The first one was for strawberries. Now I am just dying for a breaded chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. We are gluten free now though so I can't have one, I could cry lol, over a sandwich.

"Bread" the chicken breast with ground nuts (pecans are the best!). Maybe that on a GF bread would do the trick?

I was a vegetarian for 7 years, then during my last pregnancy I dreamed in turkey. My body is telling me again this time to really increase my protein intake. And, I need fruit. Lots of sour fruits.

I bought some Avocados the other day at the store for guacamole and today they sounded soooooo good for a ham and swiss sandwich. They were!

I saw a Bisquick pancake commercial yesterday, and since then I've been dying for some strawberry and Nutella pancakes... sadly, I have no ingredients. Maybe I can convince my husband to take me to IHOP tonight.

Chicken breast "breaded" with pecans is absolutely amazing! You absolutely must try it if you're gf.

I would give anything for zuppa toscana (homemade, not Olive Garden's) and a juicy bacon cheeseburger. I have a stomach virus though that is probably going to last a week (it has so far with the kids ). It's going to be a long time before I fulfill my cravings! By then, I probably won't want to look at them anymore.

I don't feel really nauseous yet, but my taste buds are all off. Sweet things don't taste right, and all I want are things that taste strong. I made some shrimp for dinner Thursday and my friends all thought they were incredibly spicy -- and I couldn't tell at all.

Yesterday was one of my best friend's birthday, so a large group of us got together and went out to eat last night - her choice.

Let's just say there's nothing quite like throwing up a $50 fillet minion with a bathroom attendant standing fifteen feet away.

Needless to say, no more beef for me for a little while.

Avocado sushi. Red meat. Kale. Dried figs.

In my first pregnancy, I didn't have morning sickness at all. But almost all food turned me off. I'm thin to start with, so this was HARD. I'm hoping that doesn't happen again this time. So far, it seems to be more trying to just stop and literally listen for what my body is asking for. It's very specific. And then I can eat a lot of those foods. The urgency is amazing. When those cravings hit yesterday, I demanded a drive to my favourite little food store and practically HUNTED in the aisles.

New craving!

Tonight, come Hell or high water, I will have my roasted marrow bones and parsley salad with sea salt from Prune, this I vow.

I just wish I could have my regular Italian Greyhound cocktail while I'm there. I may, however, have a (small) glass of red wine. I'll just lash myself appropriately after.

Not craving much, in fact I'm not even hungry and I'm forcing myself to just eat. I think it's just from all this uncomfortable bloating. If I'm craving anything, it's grape juice, that's all I want to drink when I'm thirsty.

It'll be interesting to see if meat cravings happen ... I've been disgusted by meat since ~15 years ago, which was when I went vegetarian (and I've now been vegan ~5 years). I hear so often about how vegetarians will suddenly crave meat during their pregnancies. I told DH (who is also vegan) that in no uncertain terms was he to allow me to eat meat! LOL We will see

Tonight I ate a bowl of fresh organic strawberries. Yummy

I had THE BEST strawberries from the fruit stand by my house yesterday. They were so juicy.

I got my marrow bones! Ah, the decadence. I swear, if you had told me when I was ten-years-old and wouldn't even eat kiwis because they "looked weird" that'd I'd not only eat, but crave marrow I'd have told you that you were crazy.

I didn't order any wine, either. I was a good girl. I did, however, have a LARGE slice of chocolate cake for dessert.

I'm no longer craving anything I listed before. I knew that by the time I felt better I wouldn't want them anymore. My food aversions have started. I had a hard time walking through the grocery store yesterday. Everything looked so... gross. I think a big fruit salad would be amazing right now, but my 2 year old was throwing up this morning (the last of the virus I hope) and I can't eat in front of him. It looks like I'm going to consume water and HFCS-free popsicles today. Blah.

Ah, I love this thread. I should have been looking at it before I got pregnant and lost my appetite My time spent on foodgawker.com has severely dropped.

BUT - I am going to make a simple pasta primavera with asparagus and whatever else is in the fridge for dinner tonight, and bake chocolate chip cookies or lime sugar cookies to go with our picnic tomorrow Hopefully I will be able to stomach them when the time comes! I also loooove to cook (and eat)! Today was whole grain blueberry pancakes for breakfast and a hot dog (gasp) from a vendor for lunch - the only thing I have craved so far, which would *normally* gross me out completely. What can you do?

I didn't start craving anything with my first until 3 months in. I had been vegan before and was out to dinner one night & decided the beef stroganoff sounded good (childhood favorite)...I haven't been vegan or veg since...that whole pregnancy I ate mostly meat & dairy I craved it so much.
With my second I loved donuts.
With this one...I've been feeling starved & nauseated at the same time (totally new experience). My DP has been making me homemade strawberry/banana smoothies with granola & nuts ground up and that has been amazing...really saving me when I know I need to eat and nothing sounds good! But mostly I want to eat savory not sweet. Oh, my DP also made me an amazing sandwich...salami, mayo, mustard, pesto, cheese, avo, tomato...it tasted like heaven!
