Do you use a family doctor (PCP), a "pedi" or other for your LO? - Page 2

We use the same Ped for both of our boys. Couldn't ask for better!

We see a family doctor. He's actually been my doc for 17 years (since I moved here at age 10) and knows our family well. He currently sees me, my husband, my kids, my mother, my MIL and FIL and my younger SIL when she's living in town.

I like the FP style because he does know my family history so well (always checks my kids for heart murmurs because of the history) and is also really relaxed about vaccines (we're selective and delayed), extended breastfeeding or co-sleeping (with my first I mentioned it to him and he smiled and said he missed those days (his daughter is 10, so she was 5 at that time.))

My wife and I see a GP. Our DD see's a nurse practitioner in a family practice office. There are ped's in this office, and the NP worked as a nurse in the Children Hospital for several years before becoming an NP.
We love her. She is laid back and goes with whatever we want for our DD. She see's her role as a support for us in getting the care that we want and need for our DD.
We are happy with our situation. Our GP clinic does not take children.

Her first three appts were with the doctor that delivered her (well, I should say caught her ). He is who we would go to in the event of a major issue or illness.

But for her well baby visits, we're going to my nurse practitioner whom I love and trust. Unless something major arises, she is who we will see for all of our visits (we don't vaccinate, it's just for a check up). We have a great relationship, she never hurries me, she is very compassionate and LISTENS to me. She adores my daughter and likes to "play" with her for 10ish minutes after her exam just because she gets such a kick out of her.
