Yes he is a big boy! - Page 2

My ds was 20 lbs. at 4 months, and has leveled off now at 23 lbs and 7 months. I have been getting these comments all along too. They bothered me at first, but now I roll with it. He is happy, healthy, meeting all of his milestones, and yes, he is a big boy. Both my husband and I are tall, so as someone else said, I say that he was just meant to be a big boy! I know it's annoying to get comments from other people because it makes us question if we are doing something wrong (well, that's how I felt at first anyway). But once I realized that there are so many of us out there with big guys, I understood that if people are judging, they are the ignorant ones. B

You know, the whole "My sister had a 9 pound baby, and the doctor told her she needed to give him formula because she wouldn't be able to make enough milk." )
this! I love to throw in that he is big AND is EBFed! I love the shocked looks on their faces when they find out it's all from mama's milk my best friend has a boy that is 5 months younger and we 'compete' for having the chubbier baby... We think the chubby-ness is cute! Take it as a compliment! He is healthy! (totally not saying skinny/smaller babies are not healthy! I know plenty of smaller babes that eat like crazy, but still stay small, and are very healthy. It's just genetics!)

(OK I'm not actually sure but I tend to be a bit of a Pollyanna). Hope you feel better now.
This. DD is 18+lbs at four months so we get the "she's a big girl!" all the time. I absolutely take it as a compliment. Yes, she's a chunker! I love it. I just say, "Yep mama keeps her well fed."

There's just so much you **could** be offended about, but really, I find most people are just trying to be nice/engaging.

Yup, this is how I look at it, too. I mean, my son IS big - above 97th percentile - so I can't exactly deny it.

Ds2 was 13lbs12oz at his 8wks appointment, so now at 11wks, he has got to be over 14lbs. We do get a lot of comments about it but I just smile and say "Yup!" and keep on going. My first (dd) was a chunker so I've been through this before, but then my second (ds1) was on the skinny side (still is, ds2 weighs half that of his 3 year old brother!) so I got a lot of comments about that.
