constant pain lower right side

It's not really like round ligament pain, at least, not like I had with DD. That was a sharp, sudden shooting pain whereas this is a irritating, pulling type of pain. It's worse in some positions than others, but it's always there. Started a couple of days ago and is getting worse. It starts at what feels like the lower right side of my vagina and continues in a straight line up to about 4 inchs inside my right hip. I'm 20 wks. It's getting uncomfortable to stand (not just because of that, baby feels so low and pressury when I'm up for a while and I feel out of breath from almost nothing). I had one ultrasound that showed a short cervix and a subsequent one that showed a long cervix.

What is it? Should I be concerned? Midwife's response to all this has basically been "it's your second pregnancy"... (well, it's more like my 7th, but it's the 2nd that's made it this far!)

I have no idea but I did have an appendicitis during pregnancy. I think something like that is worth getting checked out. Four days is a long time. IMO. Some people have fever or vomting but I didn't. I hope that you feel much better soon!

I totally agree with Ellen. It doesn't sound like appendicitis, but do not be fooled by what everyone says are the typical symptoms. Any pain... even mild pain... could be your appendix.

My son had mild pain throughout his abdomen and we didn't get it checked out until he was vomiting. By then, his appendix had ruptured and he spent six weeks in the hospital, where he received Last Rites.

I'm happy to say that he made a complete recovery. Your situation may be entirely different and not nearly as serious. But please don't put off getting it checked out. This is one of those times where it's better to be safe than sorry.

Best wishes to you!

As I was posting this I decided to take the on the lap top ac adapter and put it against the area that hurt, because it was really warm. The baby seemed to move away from it or something and immediately after, the pain disappeared. I guess all I have to do is post about a symptom whenever I get one and the problem will solve itself!

So glad you found relief!

My 5yo DS just recently had a perforated appendicitis, so that's also my first thought. His pain started below his belly button, so I had no idea it could be his appendix (apparently that's classic, though). Thankfully, he had no complications other than the perforation and emergency surgery, and after a week we were home.

Anyhow, that doesn't really sound like it especially given the relief you found. I'd check out a chiropractor if it comes back, though.
