HELP! Chicken Bone Incident!

My white lab mix, Marley got into two drumstick bones while i had gone upstairs to tend to my daughter. when i came back, the two bones were gone and i couldnt find them anywhere, so i assume he ate them.

hes a happy go lucky nut of a dog and hasnt changed that attitude at all. hes just as playful as ever. hes also defecated twice since then and theres been no blood/bone in the piles that i could see.

he doesnt eat the parts that he chews off his toys - though my husband swears he found an ingested binky of our daughter's that hed eaten and passed.

what should i do?

Were they cooked bones or raw?

IMO, just keep a close eye on him over the next couple of days.

One of my dogs loves to inhale her kibble, but the few times she has gotten at cooked chicken bones (found on the street) she has chewed them up into little pieces and never has had a problem.

(She manages to do so very quickly while I'm busy trying to force her mouth open and get them out )

Hopefully everything will be okay. Some of the "warning signs" I would watch out for is unsuccessful attempts to poop or vomit, vomit in blood or significant amounts of blood in the stool (a small amount can be a result of irritated bowels, i.e. if they have diarrhea). Sounds like things are going well so far.

I was finding bones in the dog poo outside forever, and I couldn't figure out how she was getting them, we baby latch the garbage. so unless she has thumbs..

I figured out she was going into the fridge in the middle of the night and stealing!

She never has had a problem, but those were raw bones, not cooked splintered bones.

I hope you dog is doing ok still!
