Weekly thread, May 9-16

Okay, that was WEIRD. Sprout had been up for about 1.5 hours this morning, and was ready for his morning nap. He was being tired-fussy and not settling with DH or I. Finally, I just put him down in his co-sleeper and walked away. He squirmed for a bit, made a few mild fussy noises, alternated between quiet and fussy for a few minutes.... then fell asleep!! On his own!! This may never be repeated, but I KNOW DD didn't do that until she was 1 1/2 or so.

In our house, today is pajama-jammy-jam day. DD got some new PJs that weren't clean in time to wear tonight, so I let her wear them during the day today. What fun for a preschooler!

It must be because it's mother's day! It's their version of a present! Because L just did the SAME THING!

I put her down in the crib and she woke up, so I was sure a big scream was coming. But I just turned up the white noise machine and she FELL ASLEEP.

OMG.

I ate the omelet DH made me with no screaming!

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm so happy to be a part of the mama group, after years of pining for a baby. My dream come true is here in my arms (well, arm currently, as I NAK).

Today I am going to breakfast with my mom, sister, SIL, and a couple of mama friends. This will be the first time I've taken Cecilia to a restaurant. I hope it goes well!! I plan on wearing her in the wrap the whole time.

Our first trip to eat went pretty well. She slept in the carrier for a long time. But then she started crying the second my food came. Luckily my mom was more than willing to walk around with her while I ate.

Ryan still has a long road ahead of him in NICU, but things seem to be more stable with him, too!!!!!

I was so thrilled to read claire's update this morning.

I had a gassy cranky girl at 4am for about an hour then I laid her down and she went off to sleep. I couldn't sleep though. She's only woken twice each night the past two days and boy am I sore in the morning

We're gardening today for mothers day! I can't wait to pretty up the flower beds.

Its my first day alone with a toddler and baby Molly...we'll have to see how this one goes DH has got to work 12 hr night shifts this week (thank you SO much AirForce ) so he is sleeping all day today.

Luckily last night was AWESOME. Molly slept 11-2 then nursed then slept until 5 and nursed and is still asleep right now (7:30am). I need to wake her soon though so my boobies dont explode

Yay for babies putting themselves to sleep! We are not there yet but it sounds AMAZING!
DH did the 5-7am shift this morning so I actually kinda got enough sleep for a change! He wanted me to keep sleeping but I had to nurse so boobs didn't explode and then was wide awake... I feel great compared to yesterday!

I want to take a BATH with ds. We have a shower and he likes it actually and doesn't even mind sponge baths...until you turn off the water but we don't have a bath tub and I think he would so love that!

Mothers day: well probably not much. BF and i are saving for moving so there's not much money left for anything although he mentioned getting me a deep freeze. Actually if we get the place we looked at yesterday (just drove by and peeked in windows) that will be enough. I have a FANTASTIC feeling about the place and I WANT IT! The ex though is saying that he wants to get me something for mothers day/bday (on tuesday!) and something for R...feels weird and i'm not sure how to take it.

R is doing good. Holding his head and shoulders to midback up really well. He does not like to be propped up on the boppy...i'm not sure if it's b/c he just doesn't like it or if it hurts. Cutest thing EVER: i laid down on the floor face to face with R and was just looking at him looking at everything and he started "talking" to me! Cooing little words. He would "say" something and then I would then he would etc etc. It was ADORABLE. He saves those cooing sounds for special times but I was surprised at how he wanted to have a conversation already!

SS~ right...we're supposed to believe that with four kids you held onto your SANITY!!! BAWWWWAAAHHHHAHAHAHA....i don't believe you...i think neurotic is more likely to stick around.

Right now the most difficult thing is the older kids. They are not listening and i can't just pop out of my chair (well...i wasn't quite popping out of my chair there at the end but YKWIM!!) to make them do as i say or whatever and anytime i need to tell them to do something i have to yell at them (another thing that needs to change obviously) and it scares the bejesus out of reeve. i need to have a microphone in their ear and little shock collars around their ankles it seems like.

bubba~ isn't that the pits? 12's suck. hopefully he'll make it up to you tomorrow.

The baby celebrated mother's day by puking in my only nursing bra this morning. I think the pepper I put on my pork chops last night was too much for her because she's never really spit up much until this morning...

My 3 year old DD gave me a pair of blue mardi gras beads and said happy mother's day. Fitting because she sure does see my boobies a lot.

DH is still in bed. He has a belly ache.

I've got so much to do today. DH mixed up all of the eggs from my chickens and last night I found a partially developed chick in one. GAG. I should never have left him in charge of my birds these past two weeks. I now have 200 eggs ready to sell that I'm afraid to sell or eat because DH was taking them out from under broody hens apparently. I discovered that there are still eggs all over the two coops, so I have to clean them out and throw all those eggs away and start fresh tomorrow when I know the eggs will be new and edible. *sigh* It's really hard to do animal chores with a baby strapped to your front!

We have to go buy something for my mom and MIL for mother's day because I haven't had time before today to do it. Then we have to go out to eat with the in-law's tonight and I need to make time to go see my mom too. I really just want a long nap, baby was squirming and grunting all night and DD1 was rolling around all over the place constantly...I am SO tired. My eyeballs are totally throbbing in my skull.

Even though all I got for mother's day was baby barf and DD's beads, I'm still so thrilled to have two beautiful girls. I suppose baby Ada and her birth are the best present I could have ever asked for.

We're getting my MIL a digital picture frame (since DH never got her a birthday present, we're spending more on her) and loading pictures of L on it.

We're getting my mom a nice photo album and are going to get a bunch of pictures of L printed and put them in there.

Happy Mother's Day all, and extra big hug to all the first time moms! I still remember my first mom's day! H took R for me this morning so I could sleep which was seriously the best present. R has a rough night so I was exhausted. He got up from bed when he heard her cry and took her Plus he made me coffee and the kids breakfast. I'm a happy mama. And the girls made cards.

We don't have crap for money so we're going to bring a cake over to my mom's with cards from me and the kids. She'll be happy as she knows we're broke. Sucks. I wish I could do something nice for her. She's been so awesome with this baby. We haven't had to buy ANY clothes thanks to her, and she's been coming over a lot to help out.

So R has her first cold. She was up for most of the night fussing. Poor thing. This is life with siblings I guess. Sick when everyone else is sick. She's doing great other than that though. She is already starting to lift her head up when she's lying on me. And she's more and more alert now. I already miss the floppy newborn but I love each baby stage so much!

Yes, it's getting harder to do things one handed with baby in arms now that she's throwing her head back. Were starting to get a bit of chatter fron her now and then.

I'm starting to suspect thrush. She's always got a white tongue and my nipples are always red and burning. No shooting pains though and not really much of a red bum.

The dry skin has cleared up on my of her body except her head and face. I'm hoping she doesn't get cradle cap bad like my son had.

I can sympathize with whoever has the baby who rises with the sun. My Son was lime that. 5am every morning.

Waiting for hubby to get hone from an errand so we can plant the annuals and cut the grass.

My mom comes to my place to start our 2wk visit tomorrow. Not looking forward to the smoke smell. It's her first time seeing baby. I'm just making her a simple brag book when I get a moments peace to get back in my craft room to finish it.

Mother's day began with TWO kids puking on me. At least it is the weekend so I could take a shower and wash the puke out of my hair. The girls made me cards (under my direction), we went for a long walk as a family, and DH is going to help the girls make a cake later. I told him that putting together the raised garden beds would be a nice gift, or buying me a bunch of those blue rubbermaid bins so I can finish sorting out the garage, but those are both things we were going to do anyway, so eh.

Becky slept for 5 hours straight last night... and then woke up every hour after that. I'll take what I can get though.

for sleeping babies! My mom and her husband had the big girls last night, and DH worked, so it was just Lucy and I from 9:30 on. I went to sleep around 1am and woke at 3, 5, maybe 9 and woke for the day at 12:30! This is the schedule I'd kept before kids (only up until 4 and no night waking), and my body was thanking me for returning to it when I got up.

Pepper- that sucks about the eggs! I think I'm glad we aren't having a rooster. One less thing to worry about.

Danielle- I'm dealing with big kids not wanting to listen, too. I am blaming it on adjusting to the baby. It is starting to slowly improve. But my oldest is getting into the stage where she lies about everything. Even stuff that won't get her in trouble. Which gets her in trouble. Then she gets mad, act out, etc. Big messy circle.

Bubbasmummy- Good luck! You'll find a rhythm with the kids soon enough.

SCG- I can sympathize on the smoke smell. DH's entire family (except one brother) smokes. DH is borrowing his mom's car. He couldn't see through the windows they had so much buildup. And my mom, who has been vehemently anti-smoking my whole life just married a smoker. And got mad when we (dh and i) said something about him smoking around our kids. And now acts offended when I make the kids take a bath as soon as they come home from her place, etc. Umm, I am still allergic to the crap. I have a headache from the girls giving me hugs when they got home this morning.

Ivy- puke isn't a fun way to be woken up at all. Hope they are feeling better.

My Mother's Day present (besides the totebag I helped DD make for me, inspired by this) was a special moment. DD, DS, and I stopped at the grocery store for lunch fixings. I plopped DS in the new sling that I just finished making this morning, and DD wore her favorite toys (Buzz and Woody) in the matching sling I made for her. I was so happy walking around the store with DS snuggled up against my chest and DD walking along beside, imitating me in the best way.

My DH is an epic FAIL at holidays usually, so I'm expecting him to do nothing for today, despite reminders that I'd like to do something to celebrate.
