What is this position called - is it OK?

I have quite a few carriers - a wrap, a pouch sling, a ring sling and an ergo but the wrap is my favourite at the moment. My DD is 12 weeks and quite long. She has great head control. She doesn't like facing in and I've tried facing her out which she likes but I don't (I don't like not seeing her face). The most comfortable position for both of us seems to be a kind of modified cradle hold where she's sitting up almost straight with her right side against my body and legs tucked up. I looked for instructions for this hold to try to get tips on the the best and safest way to do it but I can only find cradle hold for newborns where they are lying down. Does anyone else use this hold? Does it have a name? Is there any reason not to use it?

I'm pretty sure I've seen instructions for something similar, but I don't know what it's called either.

I just went looking on youtube and found this. She calls it a kangaroo carry, but it looks more like what you're describing. Maybe treat it as a modified kangaroo carry with the feet to the side rather than in front.

i usually call a carry like you're describing a modified kangaroo or upright cradle hold. a kangaroo carry is usually where baby's back is up against the wearer's chest and feet in front.
the main issue with a cradle or kangaroo hold is that with newborns and young infants it can cause the baby to fall chin to chest, which may cause positional asphyxia. so be really mindful of the baby's positioning, especially if they fall asleep in that kind of carry.

Forward facing out carries also don't allow or proper support of the hips and legs which is hard on baby's spine. Plus should baby become overstimulated, they can't turn away.
