Kefir water explosions

So I am making a second ferment with kefir water and berries in an airproof grolsh (sp?) style glass. Twice now I have had an explosion, lost most of the juice and had a big mess to clean up. I really like how it tastes after sitting for a couple of days when it gets nice and bubbly, but how do I avoid the explosions?

Does no one have experience with this????

Burp the bottle. You might have fewer bubbles, but venting just enough to release pressure once a day will probably help. I've never had an explosion, but I've had pressure definitely build up before.
