My one year old nudist

It all started with a pair of sandals for his first birthday. DS was starting to walk so we got him a cute pair of sandals (super easy on, simple design, adjustable width) so he could walk around outside. The first time we put them on his feet he had an absolute meltdown! Over the course of the next week we tried helping him getting used to them by leaving them around on the floor near his toys, putting them on stuffed animals and even putting them on my toes. He doesn't mind playing with them, but he gets furious about them being on anyone's feet including his own! Then he started getting upset about even having socks on his feet. He's been wearing socks almost everyday of his life, but suddenly when he looks down and notices socks on his feet he freaks out and tries to take them off! Now it has evolved into him throwing a fit about wearing clothes and at least once a day pulling all of his clothes off. I'd be totally okay with this if it weren't still snowing here. The house isn't warm enough for him to go without clothes, not to mention how tough it is to leave the house.
Has anyone else gone through this?
What is going on here?!?
Any suggestions?

My dear son is quickly approaching his second birthday and has gone through periods like you describe frequently. I personally went with the flow whenever possible. Usually if I did that and didn't fight him about dressing he'd get tired of it in a couple of days and would then get dressed. That said there were times that I "had" to go out and clothing wasn't optional. I resorted to a distracting video. Now mind you that was a big concession for me. We don't have a t.v. and we don't let him or watch many videos ourselves. But I pulled up funny cat videos on youtube, set him in a chair, and while he was engrossed I dressed him. It worked.

As for the cold, maybe your situation is different but I found he could comfortably go naked in our house even in the winter. I would have been cold but I kept checking his little feet and hands and he was warm enough. Generally I'm finding that he cycles through things and before I know it what was such a big deal isn't an issue at all any more. I don't always succeed but my mantra is "this too shall pass" and just let things go. They are just finding ways to express themselves and exert some control. I say let them! :-)

My DD is also a nudist. She also has an excellent little heating system. She always takes off her shoes and socks. She never gets cold. I used to worry about her when it was cold but eventually realized that she really was not cold. I would be outside wearing several layers of clothes and she would pull off her coat saying, "I'm hot!" I felt her hands and they were warm. So I learned to let go of that particular fear.

If your DS does not complain about being cold then he might very well be just fine. If so then relax. It'll be OK.

My LO can't talk yet. Should I just check hands and feet to see if he's cold?

I too have a nudist. My problem is the pee puddles all over the house. How do the rest of you ladies deal with this? My DD is not ready for potty training, she's 18 months old and runs away screaming at any mention or sight of the potty. I don't want to force her to sit on the potty or to wear the diaper, but I also don't want to continue cleaning up her puddles. I can't think of any other alternatives. Any suggestions?

Figure out how often she pees and get her out doors or into a bathtub before she has to go? Play games where her dollies sit on the potty or make puddles and clean it up? Put the potty near a small table so she can do coloring or build with blocks or some such while she goes? Put the potty where she can look out a window or into a mirror? Waterproof your home some how, giant tarp?

What do you think your son would do if he were cold? How do you think he would communicate?
