3 things;

1. Good luck. I know how stressful it can be.

2. I do not know where you are finding your donors and all the details but please make sure they have very recent STD tests. I only mention this because you say it is a donor from January. Do not let the allure of the positive OPK make you loose your good judgement.

3. Why would you need IVF? If you are confident in your ability to get pregnant from home inseminations, there is no reason you would need IVF, just IUIs with purchased super sperm...

i don't need it i just thought it would be easier than having to rely on someone i don't "really" know to conceive, i've never got pregnant using inseminations before all my lo's were to my then partner. what's IUI?

IUI is intrauterine insemination.

IUI is pretty much the turkey baster method. Where fresh or thawed sperm is put inside, near the woman's cervix. No real medical intervention, in fact it can be done at home, yourself.

Personally, I prefer using live donors. I like that I will have actually met and interracted with my future child's father.

I always thought IUI was interuterine so they put the sperm directly into your uterus using a thin catheter, so that would be dangerous to do at home.

Home insems get the "goods" at the cervix level.

am I wrong?

I did home insems with my first surrogacy, used a needless syringe, and a menstral cup.

Hmmm... I think IUI is a term used for both procedures. But, yeah, it is used for intrauterine... I think I need to Google this.

Yeah I did too just to be sure, IUI uses catheters inside the uterus, that would be dangerous at home lol

Insemination just goes to the cervix.

Wooops! Yes, technically IUI is when sperm is placed directly into the uterus. Sorry about that.

AI, (artificial insemination) is the one that is interchangeable.

I did try a self IUI once, it hurt like #@&#*!!!! (Hey, desperate times, and all)

OUCH! lol I wasn't trying to offend you, just didn't want someone out there trying to find a catheter or anything lol.

Mama2toomany... No offense taken. I would rather be corrected when I mistype something. I also don't want people to get bad info, so thank you for setting me straight.

I've seen you around here before, I'd like to tell you how wonderful you are to be a surrogate! You are doing something so amazing, I'm having trouble finding adequite words...
