where to put the semi-mobile LO when I'm in the shower?

My ds is over seven months and rolls around like crazy! He sits unassisted for a while, but then will lay himself down and roll around. He isn't crawling yet though. So, when I'm in the shower, where do I put him? He's too big for the "bouncy" seat I used to sit him in, but I don't feel comfortable leaving him on the hard floor to flop over and roll around (even with the Boppy behind him). Where do you put your LO's who are at this stage when you're in the shower?

I used to put DS in his crib in front of a mirror, and he'd play in there-- good for a quick shower. When I was cooking and wanted to keep him away from the stove, I used to put him in an Exersaucer, so that would work too if you have one. Some MDC moms don't have either of those, I realize, but if you do, a shower is the time to use them. Sometimes I took him in the shower with me instead of giving him a bath.

Ah, memories. Now that he's three he'll sit and watch TV while I shower but he does tend to wander in and open up the shower curtain in the middle of it.

Mine second two shared the shower with me since I couldn't trust their older siblings not to sit on them. My oldest just sat outside the shower with toys.

I would say the exersaucer or playpen (pack 'n' play) or carseat. For me, I have enough older ones to keep an eye on the littler ones. I usually shower late at night after all the children are in bed. Then in the morning, I just have to wet my hair.

I usually shower in the evening now, but I used the exersaucer with my first all of the time. I actually got a clear shower curtain at one point so she could still see me a little and my exersaucer fit in the bathroom with me (just barely), so we kept it in there.

I always put dd in the exersaucer thingie (ours is really small and fits in our tiny 2' by 2' bathroom) with some cheerios or whatever. Or in the high chair, which I would put right outside the bathroom door (can see from the shower). I did this until she was like 18 months even, just to keep her out of trouble.

Ds, I would either shower when dh got home from work or shower during his naps.

My little guy likes playing on the floor for a while when I shower, or I shower while he's sleeping. I do have an exersaucer and a jumperoo as well which both give him supported places to land when I can't wear him or he isn't sleeping. More and more though, we're moving to simply setting him on the floor. If I'm not confident that he'll stay upright while sitting, I put him down on his tummy with a couple toys to play with. It's taken me three kids to finally get past overthiking it- quite simply, they manage pretty happily when they are playing on their own. Keep toxic/dangerous things out of the way and let them explore.

The package says not to put the bumbo in water. It stands up to use in shower / bath? I didn't wanna try it incase I ruined it. Didn't know who to ask.

I put DD in her exersaucer or bumbo while I showered before she was crawling. I'd give her a couple toys to play with and leave the curtain open a bit so she could see me, which usually worked pretty well.

I'm having the same problem right now to. I used to put him in the rocking chair, bigger then the bouncy chair with straps to hold him in. But my little monkey can now escape from that. I even put it on the furthest recline and he gets himself out of it. I figure I'm going to have to start showering in the evening when dh is home.

My DS is almost 17 months and I still put him in an exersaucer daily so that I can take a shower. It lives in our bedroom, and I drag it into the bathroom each morning. I have no idea what I'm going to do when he finally figures out how to escape, but until that happens it will continue to be the safe spot for him.

I asked this same question when my guy outgrew his bouncy!! Here's my old thread.

What I ended up doing was just combining my shower with DS's bath time. I set his tub in the big tub - away from the shower end. He sits in his tub & plays while I shower & I wash him near the end of my shower. (Actually, I don't wash him everyday, some days he just plays.) I was worried about the spray from the shower, but I just keep it directed away from him & everything is fine. Luckily for me, he really likes bath time & doesn't mind being wet. I just have to keep rotating the toys so he has new ones often - to keep him interested!

I can't believe I'm the first to suggest a jumparoo! DD LOVES jumping while I'm in the shower, and if she's lonely I can peek out and play peek-a-boo. She can even see DH studying from there. I think when this gets boring I'll get a full length mirror to put across from her. We have one that hangs from the doorway that I got from Walmart with 97 cent shipping. Thrift stores usually have them really cheap too.

I did an exersaucer or a jumparoo, then when that stopped working, I just started bringing them in the shower with me. We have a separate shower and tub, though, so the floor is flat, and I think that's easier than a slippery tub floor.

Oh gosh there was a period of time where I would only shower once DH got home for those very reasons! And he wouldn't have been happy being in another room in a jumperoo or whatever... Finally I started pulling the highchair into the bathroom & that has worked perfectly for many months now! I can keep the shower curtain open a bit & talk to him & hand him toys while I shower.

Oh, mine wouldn't have been happy in another room in a jumperoo. I'm talking bringing the exersaucer/jumpy right into the bathroom with you, where they can see you the whole time.

Ohhh I guess my bathroom (or maybe our exersaucer thingy) isn't the right shape for that There isn't enough room near the shower, not to mention that thing would've been a pain to drag through the doorway! Oh well -- he hated that thing & we packed it up months ago (too bad, it really would've helped in many situations) -- I think he likes the highchair 'cause it reminds him of food hehe
