DD prefers one breast over the other?

Why does my 6 wk-old have trouble nursing on my right breast? She pulls off, grunts, gulps, acts like she is drowning, etc., no matter at what point during the feed. I've had her adjusted twice with the chiro. I don't think I have OAL, and even if I did, she manages the other side just fine, plus, I almost always do a form of block-feeding. Sometimes, she is ok, but most of the time, she just has trouble with it. She almost seems uncomfortable lying in that direction; she does do better in the football hold, and sometimes in a side-lying position. I have another chiro visit in a week or so, and plan to specifically mention this. It has been this way since birth, and I have no idea what the deal is. I know she is getting enough, so I'm not really worried, just wishing I could figure it out.

It's not uncommon to have more milk on one side. My left side is my big producer.

I'd try nursing her in a reclining position (lying on a few pillows, baby on top or to the side). It lets gravity keep the flow in check.

I know you've done chiro but maybe it's worth checking with a PT.

My right side is the chronic over-producer so I've always fed DS 2-4 times on the left for every time I feed him on the right. Also, when DS was that age, his head/neck was tilted from birth, and I think it was kind of uncomfortable for him to twist his head that way, so I tried some weird positions so he could be more comfy. He outgrew that but we still use the left side more & he's 15mos old and I don't have any supply issues & I'm not lopsided.

hmmm... good thoughts. 1-hand typing, will come back later.

At that age, DS always prefered the left. I've read somewhere babies like it because it is closer to your heart - and they can hear it beat.

that said, sometimes one boob does make more than the other -
