Am I just imagining things?

My first pregnancy was a surprise and the fatigue is what tipped me off- even then, I was already 6 weeks preggo before I noticed. Never had much morning sickness or anything.

We are trying to get pregnant so I have a stash of opks and I got a positive last Wed. We dtd on Tues, Wed. Now, I am currently 5 dpo- tired, nauseous, and grumpy.Could I actually be experiencing preg symptoms already or is my mind playing tricks on me?!
Ah the mind is a funny thing that way. it would be highly unlikely to experience such drastic symptoms so early. If this is your first month trying, then it is likely just you paying more attention to your body's "functions". That isn't to say you aren't pregnant! Hope your symptoms lead up to a BFP!

I started to get morning sickness at 5dpo with DD (like vomiting bad) and nausea with this one at 5dpo (didnt start vomiting til 10 weeks)

So yeah, it could be... but as Jenn already said its just as likely not... the only way to know is to wait a week and take a test :/

Thanks, ladies- I needed a reality check This is the first cycle where we're "trying"/I'm sorta charting. My mom will be in town Wednesday so this would just be fabulous timing if I found out while she's here....but, oh, the wait! I'm terrible at that!

I know exactly how you feel. This is my first month TTC, and I could have sworn I had symptoms at around 6-8dpo. I think I got so excited about the possiblility of being pregnant that I tricked myself into thinking I was. Now AF is due tomorrow & tests are BFN.
But just because it's not a certain yes now, doesn't mean there won't be a BFP for you in a week. Try (& I should take my own advice) to stay calm and busy for the next week. Let us know how it goes when you get close enough to test.
I began feeling very tired and lots of nausea at only 4 dpo when preggo with ds (I didn't get a bfp til a week and a half later, got 2 bfn' first), so it's entirely possible. But, I have also found that since after my fertility returned from him and babe after him, I usually have nausea during the 2ww (I contribute it to the fast progesterone rise).

does seem a little early for symptoms but every woman is different as is every pregnancy and pregnancy hormones however little there would be at this point if you are pregnant may effect you more than others iygwim
hope you get a nice when you test next week.

cool! glad to know that early symptoms do happen! Still having fatigue, nausea in the afternoons, and a little crampiness. I'm trying to keep my excitement in check. As mentioned, my mom will be in town and I don't want to "spill the beans" early esp if it turns out negative.
So the first response "early result" says that the tests are valid 6 days before a missed period. Based on a 28 day cycle ( mine isn't), that would make testing possible at cd22. Should I just wait? I don't want to throw money away but I JUST GOTTA KNOW!

If you're planning to poas asap, I'd either order a few from the internet or hit up a dollar store. The drugstore tests are so expensive, and aren't necessarily as accurate as the cheap-o's. Also, the drugstore tests say they can be used up to 6 days early, but that doesn't mean that if you're pregnant it'll necessarily come up positive that early. The earlier you test, the more likely you are to get a false negative. I'm all for poas the entire last week of your cycle, but the best way to do it is to be thrifty about it. Good Luck!!!!

they say with testing 6 days earlier (5 days before af is due) there will be like i think it's 57% positives for women who are actually pg, or in otherwords, something like 43% false negatives. i would vote to try to wait until maybe 2 or 3 days before af is due if you can, especially if you are using an expensive test. are you charting to confirm o? most likely, if you had a pos opk last wednesday, for most women, that would mean an o either thursday or friday- between 12-48 hours after a pos opk, with an avg of 36.

re: the original post, i will just say that i am one of those folks that doesnt believe you can have pg symptoms before you have enough hcg to make a test positive, although you might have progesterone symptoms, as you might in any cycle. this is one of those topics that divides us, some do believe it, but some dont. here's one of the reasons i don't:

today, i am cd 11, i will o in 2 or 3 days, and i am nauseas as anything this morning. actually, im tired too. why? no idea. i didnt eat anything funky, i dont believe im getting sick, i dont know why. if i were a week post o instead of waiting to o, i might be thinking, hmmm.. maybe it's morning sickness. if it turned out i wasnt pg, i would probably soon enough forget it ever happened. if the next week i found out i was pg, i would no doubt say 'aha! i knew it was pg related!' personally, i dont buy it. but even if i am right, that doesnt mean you aren't pg, you still could be or might not be, i just dont think symptoms of pg before the baby has likely even implanted are probable.

in any case- i hope you update in a couple of days with your bfp! good luck, girl!

I appreciate hearing both sides of opinions. You ladies who have had some symptoms give me some hope and you ladies who think it's too early are keeping me "real" (and keeping me from getting *too* excited and going bonkers!).
I bought a 3-pack of frer yesterday and I have a few dollar stores tests that I'm going to freely waste and test tomorrow and Monday. I'm waiting til Wednesday (14dpo and a few days before my next expected period) to use the good ones.
I'm hopeful, though, as I'm still having that crampy/full feeling and the nausea. I have had some nausea with other cycles but no more than an afternoon's worth. On the other hand, I'm taking maca and it could be that working extra hard on my hormones. So I'll update with any news when I get it! Thx for the advice!

For the record, when a test says "accurate to 6 days before missed period" apparently is based on a 28 day cycle model in which you ovulate precisely on day 14. Meaning that 6 days before period is 9 dpo. A 5 day early test would be 10dpo. Even with 28 day cycles you may ovulate on day 16 instead, which would make the test inaccurate until day 24. Something like that. I sure wish I knew this years ago, when I wasted so many 5 day early tests when I have a 11-12 day LP- LOL. HTH!

Mollipop you posted on my thread earlier! We are definitely in the same boat. I am testing on tuesday what about you? I hope we both get our BFP this cycle!!!!

I don't think that most women would feel pg symptoms that early in a cycle. I was fabulous at imagining symptoms into being. I ttc #2 for a long time and would think there were symptoms for each and every cycle. Then when we actually got pg, we did an IVF so I knew exactly when conception occured, when embies were put back, all of that. And while I know I was tinking this symptom or that was present, if I am 100% honest with myself, the only "real symptom" I had that cycle, that early, was a cold that I picked up in the second week of the 2ww. And I can't even be sure that was a symptom, but a lot of folks seemed to think that was a positive.

NOW, having said all that...this time around, even though I had NO idea I was pg, I did experience symptoms almost immediately upon conception. I was on antidepressants and it totally messed up my cycle, ovulation was getting later and later each time. I had totally stopped tracking my cycle at all, so the month we got pg, I don't even know what day cd 1 was. I don't have a clue when I ovulated that month at all. I can only guess at the approx. week that we got pg, based on counting backwards from the dating ultrasound we did after we got the positive test. And, in counting backwards, the entire week after we can estimate that conception occured, I was experiening some pretty strong "digestive upsets." They lasted, off and on, until shortly after we got the positive test, so until about 8 weeks in. Pregnancy was the last thing on my mind, there was SO MUCH other stuff going on in December, and yet when I count back, when I think about how I felt healthwise during the only time that could have been those first few days, I did have symptoms right away. Way before I would have previously believe that women could have had them.

tara 2 - thx for the info about the timing on the test. I've been doing so much figuring and adjusting the "5 days early" stuff to find out the earliest I can test. I don't have a 28 day cycle so I'm trying to count backwards from 28 then forwards from my o day LOL and I used to be a math teacher! Have to remember though that just b/c I *can* test doesn't mean it won't be too early. Kinda like every time I take a long car trip. Invariably, I end up stopping a lot during the first several hours until I reconcile the fact that it doesn't matter how much time has passed since I left- I have to actually be *on the road* SO, doesn't matter so much (to my body and to the test anyway) how long it's been so o day, just that the right hormones are ramping up like they're supposed to. Just wish my heart could understand all that.

hdirks! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! Are you still feeling symptoms?!Did you sneak any test yet or are you holding out til Tuesday? I will be testing on Wednesday as that is the earliest I think I have any chance at a reliable result. My nausea has waned somewhat but I still have that crampy/pokey feeling.

happysmileylady- totally understand where you're coming from. While my symptoms are atypical of my normal cycles, i am taking maca so I could very well get a bfn or I could look back on it and say, Hey those were really early symptoms. At least it's in writing on this forum so that the next time, my foggy brain will have written evidence that it's happened before! I swear, my mind is like a sieve lately

If you were 5 dpo on the 10th as you stated in your OP that would mean you are 12 dpo today. You would very likely get a BFP if you are indeed pregnant.

It really has to do with when implantation occurs and then waiting about 48 hours after that to allow hcg to build up. Implantation almost always occurs by 10 dpo.

The most common variable is ovulation, occuring later than one thinks, but if you are sure of when you ovulated you should be good for a BFP today.

Though of course it could take longer than 48 hours for the hcg to build up in your urine if you have anything less than a super speedy metabolism (48 hours is about how long it takes for it to build up in your blood stream enough to get a bfp). Which is the most common variable, not ovulation occurring some other time.
