My first born just lost his first tooth tonight. So I have two questions...
Some of his friends tend to get quite a bit of money per tooth, and I don't really want to go that route (we're looking at in the range of $5/tooth). I think that if we give him money at all, he's going to compare to his friends and decide that his tooth fairy is cheap (which is true, she is), and thus not be satisfied with that. Tonight, he's receiving a liberty dollar, which is novel so I think he'll like it. However, for subsequent teeth, I need some ideas- what (if anything) do you give your kiddoes for a lost tooth?
Also, do you save your kid's teeth? DH and I both agreed that this is kind of gross (no offense), but I'm saving this tooth anyway mostly because I've completely messed up when it comes to baby books, first haircut, etc. So far, it's in a little satchel with the date and his name. Short of spending money on some sort of "tooth saving kit" (cause again, this fairy is cheap), how do you save the teeth? Do you only save the first?
TIA.

BTW, he knows that we're the tooth fairy, and he even set his 3 yo sister straight on that issue! Good thing too, he grew up knowing that Santa was just a myth, then a friend of his managed to convince him that Santa's real. That was a mistake! Because then he "found out" that Santa was indeed just a myth (I've always told him the story of St. Nick) based on a guy who died centuries ago, and was really upset. Not making that mistake again. Anyway, I think he just likes to pretend, which is cool with me as long as he knows we're pretending.
