Need Help Momma's!

Hey

I need some additional information on the safety, experiences, etc. of homebirths.

My brothers g/f is going to have a baby due in Sept. and although she wants to go as natural as possible, she doubts the safety of homebirths.

I was wondering if any of you momma's had any good links or anything else for her? I would very very much appreciate any input, experience you have had as well as any good websites you have found.

TIA

Perhaps you can point her to this forum. There are tons of inspiring stories, book recommendations, and FAQ's.

oh yes, I have already done that - I just don't know how much time she has - so I was just hoping maybe there was a few momma's who had some good links to a website or a favorite homebirth story they can point me too

This study shows that home births are just as safe as hospital births:

Piles of statistics:

More studies:

This is a very recent study from Canada:

That should set you off to a good start

I would add the Dutch study too...

Books : Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin

Alongside the CPM 2000 Study and the Canadian Study I would add the Dutch study too...

Books:

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin
Pushed by Jennifer Block
Born at Home by Melissa Cheyney

Movies:

The Business of Being Born a Rikki Lake documentary

Ultimately, after some of the above, I would say they should just interview a variety of providers, including a homebirth midwife...putting a face to it all and discussing fears is the best way to show how amazing hb care is in comparison.
