DS was recently discovered to have a low total IgG (as well as low total IgA). We were thinking celiac, and now find something else entirely (or in addition to) might be going on with him. Anyway, his numbers are not overly-concerning (per the docs), but enough that we're being sent to a immunologist by the GI.

I read online that children with low total IgG might not make immunities to vaccines like HiB and Prevnar, in particular. (And possibly not tetanus/diphtheria, depending on which G is low.) Notably, DS did not react well to vaccines (to the point where we probably aren't giving him any others).

Has anyone heard whether the vaccines, themselves, (like Prevnar) could trigger an immune response like this?

I will turn to Google, I'm sure, but thought this might be something that someone here has seen.

TIA!
