Time limits, evap lines, and tell me what color my line is

I posted this on the No Stressers thread, but I am too impatient for those laid-back ladies! So help me out here.

I took a $1 HPT this AM. It said read the results in 1-3 minutes, not after 10 minutes. I read it at 3 minutes, BFN. Put it down and snuggled my DD awake in the bed. A few minutes later (not sure how many, less than 10?), I got up and looked again, and there was a very faint line there. Within the hour it was noticeably darker and looked pink to me.

So, can evap lines be pink?

Is this (10-hour-old test) pink?

i have never had a pink "evap line" on a DS test and I used to use them all the time, several times in a cycle
its a BFP!

Evap lines, by definition, are pink lines that show up after the time limit.

Antibody strip indentations are the gray lines that many women mistake as evap lines, they can show up during the time limit.

I would say... because you did not for certain check again after 3 minutes and before 10 minutes was up... it could be a bfp. But it could also very much be an evap line. The only way to know is to test again and stay with the test the whole time.

I have taken fourteen million of those and have never gotten an evap like that. So I would say it's a BFP and take another one to qwell the naysayers.

That is really nice and wide and pink to be an evap - I'd count it as a BFP BUT I'd also test again just to make sure. I've never gotten a line like that when I wasn't pregnant though - and evaps on dollar trees tend to be grey or yellow.

Hey hun! I replied in our non stressers board, but I totally think that is a bfp! I'd take another test in the morning and check it within the time period, but I'm pretty sure it will be +

A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid.
So I guess it is the timing that makes the difference...
