This Friday is going to have a segment on Nursing in Public....and it is not very positive from the preview I just saw...

Ok, got it wrong, it is ABC, not CBS...blame it on pregnancy brain.

UGH, I hate those shows! I have NEVER seen an exposed mother nursing in public. (I assume that's what the WWYD is about). I'm not saying it never happens, but I've never seen it. Even at a LLL meeting.

I wonder what the purpose of the segment is.

You just reminded me I wanted to DVR it. I want to know how over the top the actors will be...is that bad??? lol

Uugh, well they say all pr is good pr, so even if it is 'bad' maybe it will still be good.

I figure it is my duty to NIP! I am doing those giggly teen boys a favor, to show them it is normal!! :-)

I have dvr set already. Didn't know it was to be a topic though. I NIP openly. I do it to normalize it to people again. I will go see the preview now. Thanks for the notice!

It is ABC network... just found out. Here is show page link, looking for preview

I think it will be a wonderful thing

after reading the setup I am positive this will be a great day for reminding people what breasts are for I couldn't find the preview OP mentioned, but this is the page listing the show's contents http://blogs.abcnews.com/pressroom/2...y-may-14-.html

" BREASTFEEDING IN PUBLIC: “What Would You Do?” explores how people react when a restaurant manager harasses a mother breastfeeding her baby in plain view of others. Do people become enraged? "

This is a shift in perception for sure! Makes the manager the 'bad guy' for harassing the mother! YAY YAY YAY

I bet people do not step in, but bringing awareness is so good

I was thinking about this last night and thought that this is how it would be setup. Every episode I've seen of this show involved someone being harassed, berated or insulted (i.e. racism, verbal abuse, fraternity hazing) in public and watches to see if regular people will come to the defense of a stranger.

I had a feeling it would be nursing mom is being harassed - will anyone come to her defense?

And everytime I've seen the show, they show a whole lot of people ignoring the situation and then one person does step in and defend the actor - and then they are interviewed and praised briefly on-screen.

Happy to say I think this will be positive overall... but I don't think I'll watch it.

Oh, I think I'll watch this. Very interesting. I've never been harassed for breastfeeding in public but I have stood up for other mothers who have. I like that they're portraying the restaurant owner as the bad guy.

I've got the dvr set! I've been harassed by employees at a clothing store before. Hoepfully it will be good.

That was actually the most positive breastfeeding in public piece I think I have ever seen. I really want to write a them a letter thanking them.

I was happy to see so many peaple stand up for the women. Also that the show was clearly coming from a pro breastfeeding angle.

I thought it was good! It was really good to see men stepping in to their aid too!!

I thought it was pretty good! LOVED the grandma that stood up for her and praised all NIP moms too!

I'm glad that they handled it so well from the way you all make it sound. I didn't want to watch it because I'm stressed enough right now and I was afraid it was just going to make me angry.
