So I've just got to ask, out of curiosity - if the mother drinking beer had been formula feeding her child, would that have changed people's perceptions? Or what if it was a father drinking a beer with his baby there?
Because, of course, alcohol does not pass over to baby in higher percentage than in baby apple juice (even if the mother is so drunk she would pass out).
While I doubt a beer would be a problem for most in caring for a child, sure, drinking while in charge of a baby is nor a good idea. But whether or not mother is breastfeeding is irrelevant.
I didn't see it, but from the description, if the mother said it made the baby sleep better, that is a problem. A problem because it cannot be the case - but a myth is perpetuated, and other mothers will be abused for having a drink while breastfeeding, and other mothers will wean to be allowed to have a glass of wine. Which is very, very sad.
