help me give my baby vitamins!

millie is almost 8 months old, and what i'm taking and she is getting via my breastmilk isn't cutting it. she was 5 wks premature and has osteopenia, so she needs extra vitamins/minerals. she was supplemented to 27 cal (bmilk + neosure in a bottle) until ~6 wks of age when i got her all to breast. i take prenatal and extra calcium/magnesium/zinc and d3, but it's not enough. her vitamin/mineral levels are all low.

i have tried to give her the vitamins the dr gave us but 1) they taste terrible and 2) they have SUGAR and DYE in them.

i need rec's on a good, wholesome multi-vit that DOES NOT contain other ingredients (such as herbals) and is sugar and dye free.

eta: it wouldn't hurt if it was taste-free or at least had a pleasant taste, too!

tia,

I would find a good compounding pharmacy and ask them to mix them for you. I used to get my son's Vit D compounded - just VitD and olive oil. I'm sure they could add other Vitamins in there too.
Good Luck.

This is the vitamin D I recently found for my son: http://www.amazon.com/Ddrops-Vitamin...3696645&sr=8-2

It looks expensive until you realize that the little bottle has 365 days worth of doses...that made me happy after I got it in the mail.

thank you for the replies! we have vit d in olive oil that was compounded by the hospital pharm while she was in the nicu. i don't think i'll ever need anymore lol!

i'm going to call and see if i can get something compounded or if i can crush one of the chewables that dd3 takes and sprinkle it in dd4's food. unless someone else has any other ideas?

I've been giving this to my son (and myself, too). It does not taste good, but he always takes it off a spoon and goes back for the clean-up lick. If your daughter doesn't like it, you might be able to hide it in food if you do any kind of purees.
